Carey Mulligan's Great Gatsby Premiere Hair and Makeup: It Has Finally Happened, So Now We Can Talk About It

I think I've been looking forward to The Great Gatsby premiere more than I look forward to the Oscars each year—the anticipation for this movie has just been brewing for so long (Megan was lusting over the movie posters way back in December!), and my girl crush on Carey Mulligan has only been intensifying during the long wait. So without further ado, allow me to present a photo of Carey's hair and makeup on last night's Gatsby black carpet (that's right, it was black, not red). This soft, natural makeup (in shades by Chanel) and simple swept-back hair sure is a departure from her character Daisy Buchanan's glitzy Jazz Age looks—and I think this was exactly the beauty look this premiere required. Anything more done-up could come off as too costumey in the context of this film. Know what I mean? It's also nice to see Carey a little made-under after being so done up in roaring-'20s style—have you seen her in this month's Vogue? And also I love how the simplicity of Carey's hair and makeup play against the dramatic red and beautiful clean lines of her Lanvin dress. She looks both innocent and totally glamorous. Perfection. Do you

Do you agree? Does Carey Mulligan's Great Gatsby premiere hair and makeup live up to your hopes and dreams? How much are you looking forward to seeing this movie?
