Jeffree Star created quite a stir on social media yesterday when he threw some major shade at Kim Kardashian's new powder contour palettes. "Umm...Kim what is going on with those new swatches?" the MySpace-celebrity-turned-makeup-designer wrote on Twitter, adding that they "look like chalk." And while some of Star's fans were in agreement with him, Kardashian's loyalists quickly swarmed to clap back against the jab.

The plot has since thickened, as Kardashian has now found herself as the target of some serious Twitter ire. It all started when the reality star took to Snapchat last night to come to Star's defense, while also addressing racist comments that he made in the past.

"I see that my fans are totally hating on someone like Jeffree Star for being honest about my struggle swatches," Kardashian said in her video with a laugh. "But because of his remarks, I'm learning...how to swatch properly." She went on to criticize those who brought up things in Star's past, referring to racist comments that the designer made as a teen (and has since apologized for). In her Snap, Kardashian initially gave the impression that she has forgiven Star for his remarks.

"I get it's a serious deal if you say racial things, but I do believe in people changing, and people that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt," she explained. "I know better than anyone that I hate when people bring up my past or mistakes I've made in the past. So let him live." Kardashian went on to say that she would never defend racism, but she wants to give people the benefit of the doubt when they say that they've changed.

However, Kardashian's comments haven't been sitting well with some of her fans, who have since taken to social media to explain that Star's apology cannot erase the words that were said. Others have pointed out that Kardashian herself has two black children and that she shouldn't take racist comments lightly, especially in light of the recent events in Charlottesville.

It seems Kardashian took her fans' criticisms to heart, however: On Tuesday morning, she live-streamed an apology to her Snapchat account addressing their concerns. "I really didn't have the right to say 'get over it' to a situation that involves racism," she said at one point, adding that she is "really, really sorry."

As for Star, he has gone on record to denounce the racist remarks he made as a teen, as well as apologize for any hurt they may have caused. "I look back at this and I think it’s so sad that I spoke like that," he told Allure earlier this year.
