What is a story that has impacted you as a person?
“Before my mum moved here, we had no idea that we had family connection to this area at all. My great, great, great Grandmother was born on a road just past Gulgong.”
“Her father and uncle came to Gulgong during the gold rush and the uncle built a house that is still standing in Gulgong. McDonald’s bakery, in Gulgong – which back in the day was a hotel with a bottle-o attached to it – my great, great uncle held the liquor licence.”
“It took us about 100 years or so, but we keep coming back. I’m originally from Western Sydney. I have been here for about 5 years now.”
Do you have any words of wisdom for the next generation?
You guys have no idea how good you have got it. I sound so cheesy, but it is so true, growing up in the 90s, it wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty good, but as soon as the naughties hit it all went downhill.
If you could make a quote of what your experience in life is like, what would it be?
If I can get through this, I can get through anything.
What do you think about Mudgee’s culture?
So much quieter and so lovely.
What are your thoughts on social media and its impact on society?
“It has brought up the keyboard warriors who troll people.”
“It’s given them more power and then in turn given power to gutless people who are cowards that are too scared to say s--- to peoples, faces.”
“And with it being shared so easily the world, it gives them a major ego boost but for the person being bullied, they are being torn apart by even more people. Some parts of it are good, but even if it’s a small minority, they have such a large voice.”
