Cobden butter proves a Star

COBDEN'S Fonterra manufacturing site has had a golden run at this year's Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards with its Western Star Original Salted butter named champion.The site also won three gold medals and five silver medals for its butter products, adding to Fonterra's overall medal haul of 28 awards.Cobden's Fonterra manufacturing site manager Rob Howell said the awards recognised the consistently high quality butter produced in the town. "These recent awards are an excellent achievement for all our employees and testament to the dairy knowledge and butter-making expertise which exists here," he said. "With brands like Western Star and Mainland, Fonterra is a market leader in the spreads category and we're very proud to see six of our Western Star products recognised with gold or silver awards."Being recognised as the producer of top quality products is great for staff morale, for our farmer suppliers and for our loyal customers. Mr Howell said he and his staff were proud to carry on the tradition of making Western Star . The Cobden site celebrated 120 years of butter-making last year Fonterra's Western Star Original Salted butter is in the running for its second consecutive Grand Dairy award from Dairy Australia.
