Pia Miller has joined the cast of Home and Away as a regular character.

The model is to play a "tough and resilient" city girl named Katrina, who moves to Summer Bay. She will begin work on set tomorrow (August 5), reports the Herald Sun.

"I'm feeling very excited," said Miller. "It just feels like it's been such a whirlwind.

"I've been working on [acting for] the last five years, in and out of class and spending some time in Los Angeles. It's definitely where my heart is and my passion is.

"When this opportunity came up, it was a no-brainer for me. I'm just so excited about it."

Miller previously filmed a guest appearance on Neighbours in 2012.

She featured in one episode as Monica Wetherby, a kindergarten teacher who crossed paths with Rhys Lawson (Ben Barber).
