Former model Sarah Murdoch shows faded double dolphin tattoo as she kicks off her island holiday with husband Lachlan

And it looks as though Sarah Murdoch's iconic dolphin tattoos are fast disappearing in the glare of the scorching sun.

The inking, which sits on the former model's right arm, appeared noticeably lighter on Tuesday when the mother-of-three was spotted arriving in Mykonos, Greece, but friends insist she is not having it removed.

The mark was more defined earlier this year when the wife of Lachlan Murdoch was seen enjoying time on the Gold Coast with her young family and in 2007 when it was markedly darker.

Back in March 2006, the small tattoo was digitally removed from the former clothes horse's Vogue Australia cover.

It was also absent in 1999 when the then unmarried star posed for a shoot with Sports Illustrated. While the etching was edited out of the spread, it did appear in an online image.

Friends say she has no intention of removing it and that it has simply faded over time.

Stepping off the family super yacht on Tuesday, the fashionable mother who's used to strutting the catwalk in towering stiletto heels, ditched the designer soles and went barefoot.

Despite her lack of footwear however, the blonde beauty looked effortlessly chic in a navy blue mini dress as she and her media executive husband kicked off their island getaway.

The summer frock, which fell just under the 42-year-old's collar bone, featured sheer panels across the bust and a playful pleated skirt that showed off her trim pins.

Adding to the laid back look, her shoulder-length locks were tied in a no fuss ponytail, and she completed her holiday style with a pair of nude-rimmed glasses.

Clearly enjoying the warmer weather, the sun-bathed beauty was beaming as the walked towards the beach-goers laying out by the water's edge.

Sarah's husband Lachlan was also getting into the spirit of things and looked relaxed as he sported a wildly windswept hairstyle.

Dressed in a dark T-shirt and an above-the-knee pair of shorts, he pressed tinted shades against his nose and also went barefoot.

The billionaire businessman, 42, and his younger brother James flanked their ageing father Rupert as they helped him off of the luxury vessel and onto the shore.

The family were joined by a host of friends aboard the multi million dollar liner that ferried the crew across the clear waters surrounding Greek island.

While the picturesque location makes for an idyllic family vacation, the wealthy Murdochs had quite the action packed afternoon.

After boarding the luxury boat in the harbour, the boys headed out to fish where they hauled in a huge catch.

Sarah, a former host of Australia's Next Top Model, kept busy entertaining friends in the back of the boat while James looked on.

The beauty and her husband finally managed to sell their extravagant waterfront mansion in Bronte last week after having placed it on the market three times in the past five years.

The beachside property in Sydney's eastern suburbs was sold for about $10million.

Sarah, a former fashion model, married the son of billionaire media mogul Rupert in 1999 and share three children, sons Kalan, nine, Aidan, seven, and daughter Aerin, three.

The power couple spent the first half of their married life living in New York before moving back to Sydney in 2005.
