Celebrity Parents Sarah Murdoch on her fertility issues, her new book and her two 'miracles' By Staff Author Published on October 1, 2007 04:15AM EDT Australian model and spokeswoman for Bonds and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Sarah Murdoch, 35, talks about her marriage, sons and the trouble she experienced conceiving to Woman’s Day last week. The couple have two sons, Kalan Alexander, 2 1/2, and Aidan, 16 months. Sarah and husband, Lachlan Murdoch, thought that they would never be able to have children after trying to have children for four years and suffering many miscarriages. I had such trouble getting pregnant and had several miscarriages. When friends go through something familiar my heart just goes out to them because I never thought I’d have kids. I had all those fears and anxieties over all those years and now here they are. As Sarah prepares to launch her book, Birth Skills, she explains in the book how she describes Kalan’s birth; a 50/50 effort between her and Lachlan. My husband was so involved, we really have birth 50/50. He was coaching me through it and we worked through each contraction as a team. It brought us closer than we ever knew was possible. Sarah says however, like many other mothers, she feels the guilt of working when she is away from her boys. However, they do try and keep a general routine. When I’m away from my children all I want to do is get back to them. No matter who you are, you are always going to feel that guilt as a mother. But I’m lucky – I can choose to work when I want to. Lots of mums go straight back to work and don’t have that option. I still like to do the dinner-bath-bed routine. I like to do everything. I like to be the mum. Sarah says that she confesses that she wonders about her luck sometimes and how she got to be so blessed with her young family.
