Do you want to better understand the Bible?

The Bible is written, by God to the Jewish people, using their culture, customs, calendar and feast days. If a Christian fails to understand this, they lose the ability to receive much of its message. It is complex, with messages inside messages.

One important understanding is learning about the relationship of Christ (the Bridegroom) with the Christian Church (the Bride of Christ). It follows a direct pattern mirrored in the ancient Jewish wedding. It is not only the ceremony but involves the entire procedure from the selection of the bride by the father, building the new home by the son, the feast, the ceremony and the 7 day consummation of the union. This can enlighten you about the Rapture and the Tribulation.

Look it up on the Internet; it is not explicitly explained Biblically but Mesianic Rabbis' understand it. Although not a Jew, I've discovered that Messianic Rabbis, like Cahn are better equipped to pass on Biblical wisdom, partly because their knowledge Marries the O.T. with the N.T.

It has been said that people who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Please tell me how Biblical history and current history differ? If you believe God is the author of the Bible, this makes sense to you. Believing, gives you an immoveable anchor on which to rest your faith. Without that you have a constantly moving anchor at best. Every sailor knows how to "set" an anchor. Is a moveable anchor what you would use to anchor YOUR boat?

Another analogy is a child's relationship with a loving parent. A child, when either hurt or afraid, knows he can run to her parent for comfort, protection and support. Do I serve a loving God, who even more than a loving parent, is my Father in heaven? Or is he a distant god who asks and rewards in ways a loving parent finds abhorrent? Having the security of knowing your loving God is why the Bible is so important in a Christian's walk. It is that relationship in which the Harbinger was written.

All that said, there are several other prophesies coming together that offer validity to Cahn's book.

On the Harbinger's readability, it is an interesting read that intertwines fact with fiction. Cahn takes several events that followed 911, compares those to ancient Biblical history and shows a pattern between them and events unfolding in America today. Whether one believes the message does not detract from it making a good story. Novels must be based on a believable story that flows easily from beginning to end. The Harbinger does that. By the way, a harbinger is a warning of things to come, so it is an appropriate title.

Read the book, you won't be disappointed.

Powerful thesis based on Scripture

The author's thesis is that the warning in Isaiah 9:10 given to ancient Israel to turn back to God is the same warning given to this nation by the events of 9/11. The thesis is conveyed in the form of a narrative. The nine harbingers (that is, signs or warnings of judgment to come) prophesied in Isaiah are the breach, the terrorist, the fallen bricks, the tower, the gazit stone, the sycamore, the erez tree, the utterance, and the prophecy. The parallels between God's warnings to ancient Israel and Judah and His warnings to modern America are undeniably striking. Some critics quarrel with the author's thesis that both Israel and America are countries formed under a covenant with God, but to me that's a quibble. God drew both nations to Himself, and both King Solomon and President George Washington dedicated their nations to God with a warning that His blessings would be removed if the people ever turned away from Him. The destruction of the Twin Towers and the fall of the stock market a few days later was the first shaking, involving all nine harbingers. The second shaking came exactly seven years later when the stock market crashed again. Both crashes occurred on a significant date in the Hebrew calendar, which Rabbi Cahn explains in detail. As a Christian and amateur student of the Bible who (alas) does not know Hebrew, I greatly appreciate Rabbi Cahn's reliance on Scripture and his knowledge of ancient history, his explanations of the Hebrew language and calendar, and his investigation of conditions at Ground Zero that were treated as peripheral rather than critical by news pundits and politicians. I realize some pagans, humanists, rationalists, secularists, atheists, agnostics, and End Times skeptics may think this book isn't for them -- but it is so intriguing on the subjects of history and politics, even they will find it riveting and thought-provoking.

I have also watched the DVD based on this book, entitled The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment: Is There an Ancient Mystery that Foretells America's Future? Superbly narrated by Rabbi Cahn, the images are compelling and the production excellent. Until I read the book and watched this DVD, I knew next to nothing about the felling of the sycamore tree or the planting of the erez tree near Ground Zero; the quarrying and placement of the gazit stone where the new tower is being erected; the crack in the foundation of Federal Hall caused by the events of 9/11; the place of the country's dedication in 1789 after the inauguration of George Washington as the first president; the religious nature of the dedication ceremony; or the striking repetition of our national leaders' defiant speeches in reaction to 9/11. The parallels between ancient Israel and modern America are uncanny but precise and far too important to ignore, especially the chance we Americans have to heed the warnings and avoid a terrible judgment.

A Prophetic Warning to the U.S. But..............

The subject matter of this book is fascinating! And it contains a dire prophetic warning to the people of the U.S.

This alone makes this book well worth reading.

So to cut to the chase for those in a hurry...I'M RECOMMENDING IT!

BUT there are some NEGATIVES you may want to know about if you're planning on reading it...so I'll start there.

I have the impression that author Jonathan Cahn was envisioning his book being made into a movie...like the Da Vinci Code...but just doesn't have the writing chops to pull this off.

He's chosen to write The Harbinger as though it is a fictional account in novel form. Sadly, in my opinion, this somewhat obscures its prophetic warning...AND having to sort through a poorly written novel to get to something this important shouldn't be necessary.

Cahn's writing style is often flat and not very engaging or descriptive. For example: Cahn never gives more that vague descriptions of characters; We don't learn the color of their eyes or hair, whether their shoes are scuffed or polished, or if their clothes are rumpled or well pressed or are new or old; Their surroundings aren't alive with colors, sounds, textures or smells etc, so there aren't blue skies or sunsets...leaves crunching under foot...cold, smooth stones...or sunbaked, rough, wooden benches etc.

The dialog is often very stilted and unnatural. In between chapters, I went around entertaining myself by speaking the way the characters in the novel do.

Just for fun...here's a quick sample:

Joe: Do you want some coffee? Karen: Coffee? Joe: Yes, coffee. The hot beverage you drink. Karen: Yes, I would like some coffee, the kind you drink, but will need something to put it in. Joe: I will pour the coffee into a cup for you. Would you like cream or sugar? Karen: Cream or sugar? Joe: Yes, cream or sugar for your coffee. Karen: Yes, I would like both cream and sugar. May I have a spoon? Joe: A spoon? Karen: I will need a spoon to stir the coffee after I put the cream and sugar in it. Joe: Ok. I will give you a cup of coffee, cream and sugar and a spoon to stir it with.

LOL

So enough of the "bad", I'm sure you get the idea.

Now onto the meat and potatoes...the information presented in the book is astounding. Cahn interweaves prophetic scripture regarding Israel and how it applies to the present day U.S. It becomes unmistakable that we are on the same pathway that led to the destruction of Israel.

Cahn takes the reader through U.S. history, and ties that in with recent speeches and proclamations made by our leaders and shows clearly how recent events seamlessly line-up with prophetic scripture.

In the end, there is no mistaking (for the Christian anyway) that we as a country are on very dangerous course.

I wish everyone would (put aside the terrible writing and) read this book...and take to heart its important message.
