Amazing Product! And Amazing Customer Support!

I bought a Hatch Rest 2nd gen to prepare for a second little one on the way. We have the original Hatch for our first and love it and opted this time for the version with the clock. I have been using it the past few weeks as my own alarm clock while we wait for baby #2 and have been really enjoying it. I like that this version has the buttons on the back vs the bottom to make it much easier to access without having to flip the whole thing over. I also love all the sleep and wake programs. I wish that you could interchange some of the go to sleep music with the time to rise music selections (the ones that are included) as there is one in the time to rise that I feel like is very relaxing and peaceful and makes more sense to me at night so I have just been using the time to rise option at night, but then I am not able to use the "tricolor" feature since that doesn't seem to be an option for time to rise settings. These are obviously minor grievances, overall I have been very pleased and highly recommend this sound machine to anyone who is having a baby or has a toddler!
One other thing I want to call out is how AMAZING the Hatch customer service is. I had purchased this Hatch Rest 2nd gen back in May and had been using it a few months when all of the sudden it just stopped working. I did all the troubleshooting and reached out to customer service who asked me to try a few things. When those didn't work they asked me to send back the current Hatch so they could take a closer look at what the issue was and in the meantime they would send me a brand new one. They coordinated shipping back and scheduling a pickup for me with UPS so all I had to do was put the hatch and power cord in a box, print the label, and put it out front on the designated day of my choosing. In a few days I had a new Hatch that has been working great ever since. I was so impressed with how responsive their customer support was and so appreciate them working with me to make sure we had a working Hatch by the time our baby is here!
Some improvements, some disappointments

I have a previous generation Hatch for my first child, and bought the 2nd gen Rest+ for my new baby. Two major improvements have made my life significantly easier. One is having the volume and brightness control buttons on the SIDE of the Hatch - great change, I can’t believe they used to be on the bottom! The other improvement is having a battery backup - amazing! We lose power a lot, and this is going to give me significant peace of mind.
However, I am majorly disappointed in the following:
1 - The new app interface isn’t great. I know the old app interface left a lot to be desired, but this isn’t much of an improvement.
2 - The new ocean sound is AWFUL. I cannot believe that a company that specializes in white noise machines would make an ocean sound like this. There are two major volume and rhythm changes during the loop. Sound machines should offer continuous uninterrupted background noise. I have seen my baby literally wake up when the volume suddenly changes during the ocean sounds. I had to change it to White Noise instead, which is a much less pleasant sound, but at least doesn’t literally wake up my baby. The ocean sound on the previous generation Hatch was absolutely perfect!!! Please bring that one back!!!!!
3 - Minor annoyance, but the colors are different, and the red is very dark. Not a big deal because I used the custom color feature, but it’s so much darker than the red on the previous generation Hatch.
4 - I understand you are trying to sell the Hatch+ subscription, but the way the app is designed makes it so difficult to navigate around the Hatch+ features to access the basic ones. I am not interested in signing up for Hatch+ because I don’t want or need it. I wish there was a way to just say “No Thanks” and be able to easily access the basic features of the app.
5 - No Bluetooth connection. Makes it more difficult when traveling, since I don’t always connect to wifi when traveling, but Bluetooth always works. I imagine this change came from feedback from people who wanted a wifi connection. I get that, but I wish there was an option for which type of connection is better for your home. Also an inconvenience when you have two different generation Hatches.

We have enjoyed our Hatch sound machine for almost 2 years now and it has been useful in more ways than I realized! Originally we wanted it for the stay in bed timer light that would remind our toddler it wasn’t time to get up yet. We have used for that as well as for her quiet time in her room so she knows when to start cleaning up and then again when it is okay to come out, and we play soothing lullaby music with pastel changing colors when time to wind down before bed. I LOVE the ways you can customize the lights, sound, amount of time it stays on and if you want it to automatically do something different afterwards (like a stay in bed yellow light and then a green light with bird noises to show okay to get out of bed.)
A few weeks ago we moved our Hatch to a different room and it stopped working. I got in contact with their support team and they were extremely helpful, giving me different things to try and tests to run to troubleshoot. After those didn’t work, they sent me a new power cord to try and eventually a new sound machine all with no hastle! Thank you Hatch team for all of your help!

Everyone should have a Hatch

The Hatch system is working great for our 2 boys (9 and 5) who share a bedroom. They love the Calm Corner, child-friendly guided meditation series right as they get in bed and these 7-minute sessions really help to wind down before sleep. Since birth they have each preferred a loud fan while sleep and the Rest allows us to make the fan much louder than the unit in their room with automatic turn-on and scheduled settings. The rise and wake settings are perfect and so easy to customize. Our youngest has severe autism and is usually up first and raring to get moving so when he sees the blue light at 5:30am he knows it is not yet time to get up and has to wait until the green light at 6:00am. The Hatch system has given us back the ability to sleep in worry free, having different time settings on the weekend with the same consistent structure of light signals for the boys. After purchasing a Restore for Mom several months ago and experiencing the freedom of not counting down sleepless hours during the night with a glaring digital clock, the Rest for our boys has brought our family better quality sleep and happier mornings which has led to better days for us all.
Every household can benefit from the Hatch system in some manner!
