Vocalizations are sounds that children use before they learn to talk. They can be grouped into two categories: speech like and nonspeech vocalizations. Speech vocalizations include consonant and vowel sounds (ex: mama, dada, nana) and nonspeech vocalizations include cooing, burping, and laughing sounds.
