Alcantarea imperialis is the largest terrestrial bromeliad. This giant's leathery leaves measuring up to 6 inches (15cm) in width and 5 feet (150cm) in length.
Once the plant matures, it produces a 2m flower spike carrying numerous cream y yellow scent ed flowers which emerge from dark red bracts.
