Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for the inactivation of pathogens by electrically produced silver ions using a device, comprising a cathode and an anode with a first silver-containing surface, the method comprising the steps of: - bringing the first surface of the anode into contact with a composition which comprises at least a pathogen, and - applying a voltage to the cathode and anode. The invention further relates to a virus which is inactivated by bringing it into contact with electrically produced silver ions as well as to the use of a pathogen which is inactivated with the method according to the invention as a vaccine.
