Abstract

A geminated orthodontic bracket forms an active element promoting dental alignment, and has particular features, using a base for adhesive bonding or welding, and differs from other brackets because, besides comprising a horizontal slot, it is associated with a horizontal tube that serves for various biomechanical purposes. The bracket was initially developed for intruding posterior teeth having supra-erupted because of the loss of opposite teeth, and this purpose has been achieved by the use of this accessory, together with the performance of a corticotomy. The bracket comprises a base (1), tie-wings (2), a horizontal slot (3) and a horizontal tube (4).
