Abstract

The invention relates to a helmet (1) comprising a shell (2) and a chin strap (3) fastened to the shell (2) for fixing the shell (2) on the head of an individual without play. The helmet according to the invention is characterized by an air-permeable mouth guard (4) which can be placed in front of the mouth region of an individual. A corresponding mouth guard (4) can also be provided on a pair of glasses, especially sports glasses, or on a visor (10). Preferably, the mouth guard (4) is detachable. In a further embodiment, a sunscreen is fastened to the interior of the visor.

Description

Helmet, visor and glasses

The invention relates to a helmet, in particular a sports helmet, comprising a head shell and a chin strap attached to the head shell for backlash-free fixation of the head shell on the head of a person. Furthermore, the invention relates to a visor and a pair of glasses, in particular a sports glasses.

In sports activities in the wild, there is the problem that flying insects can enter the mouth. This is not only unpleasant but can also lead to coughing fits and nausea. In addition, stinging insects pose a significant health hazard if inadvertently inhaled.

In order to avoid this, DE 10 2004 025 905 B3 proposes a respiratory protection element which consists of a membrane or a mesh element with high air permeability and an elastic tensioning frame surrounding it or this one. How the respiratory protective element is attached to the head is not described in DE 10 2004 025 905 B3

From the medical field, however, similar protective elements are generally known, which are usually fixed by means of a tape on the head.

Furthermore, from US 7,055,521 B1 a grid-like mask is known which covers the entire lower half of the face including the nose and is fastened by means of bands on the head. This mask can be additionally provided with a visor for eye protection, but is unsuitable for dynamic sports.

Against this background, the object of the invention is to provide protective devices which, in addition to their primary protective function, provide an effective mouthguard against the accidental inhalation of flying insects. This object is achieved by a helmet according to claim 1. This includes as a primary protection device a head shell and attached to the head shell chin strap for backlash-free fixation of the head shell on the head. With this helmet, an air-permeable protective grid is connected, which is positioned in front of the mouth of the person.

Such a helmet can be used for example as a bike helmet. By arranging the protective grille on the helmet this is readily available if necessary and does not have to be carried separately as a separate item that may easily be forgotten at home. A separate attachment to the head is eliminated, resulting in a favorable handling results.

By restricting the protective grid to the mouth area, in contrast to the mask according to US Pat. No. 7,055,521 B1, it is ensured that the protective grid is not lifted off or pulled away by the driving wind.

Further, advantageous embodiments of the helmet are specified in the patent claims.

Thus, the protective grid is preferably attached to the chin strap. For sports helmets that have a rigid chin guard, the guard can also be attached to the chin guard.

If the helmet has a transparent visor, the protective grille can also be attached to a lower edge of the visor.

In principle, it is possible to connect the protective grid firmly to the respective component. However, since there are often situations in which such a protective grid is not needed, the protective grid is preferably made removable.

In order not to interfere with the exercise, the openings of the protective grid are preferably sized in size so that breathing through the protective grid is not hindered, but flying insects are intercepted. Preferably, the width of the openings is in the range of 0.75 to 2,00 mm. It has been shown that all disturbing insects can be caught in this size range. Preferably, the protective grid has a proportion of openings in the range of 30 to 90% in relation to its area, whereby it can be ensured that breathing is not impaired during a sporting activity.

The protective grid itself may, for example, be made of a frame and a net of a flexible material. The frame can flexibly create facial areas around the mouth.

However, it is also possible to use a dimensionally stable protective grid which does not lie directly against the face, but is away from it at a certain distance. This has the advantage that the user does not feel uncomfortably constrained.

In an advantageous embodiment, the upper edge of the protective grid is below the nose. Any connecting webs to an eye-protecting visor run on both sides of the nose.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, such a visor may have fastening devices by means of which a sunshield or protective film can be fastened to the visor. Preferably, the fastening devices are arranged on the inside of the visor. A corresponding sunshade can be fixed without affecting the appearance of the visor.

The latter function can also be realized independently of a protective grid on a visor.

Furthermore, the above object is achieved by such a visor, at the lower edge of an air-permeable protective grille is attached. The protective grid can be attached to the visor and removably executed by this. To recess the nose, the protective grid is fastened, for example, via connecting webs to the visor, wherein the connecting webs preferably extend on both sides next to the nose.

Furthermore, the above object is achieved by a pair of spectacles, which has brackets or a band for fixation on the head of a person and is characterized by a connected with this air-permeable protective grid, which is positioned in front of the mouth of the person.

The protective grid can in principle be designed as already explained above. In particular, it is possible to attach the protective grid to the glasses and detachable from this, whereby the protective grid can be used as an attachable sunshade only in case of need.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the protective grid via a connecting web to the frame of the glasses can be attached. If the glasses are only designed with a subframe, it is also possible to fasten the protective grille to a lower edge of the eyeglasses, as may of course be made of a transparent plastic such as PMMA, as in the case of the visor explained above.

Furthermore, it is possible to permanently connect the protective grid to the frame of the spectacles. If the frame of the spectacles is connected to the protective grid via a connecting web, the frame and the connecting web can be formed integrally according to a further, advantageous embodiment of the invention.

According to another advantageous embodiment, in the above-described helmets, visors and goggles, the protective grid can be formed with a gate covering the nostrils of a person. For this purpose, the protective grid can be extended accordingly upward. However, it is also possible to attach a protective grid element covering the nasal openings of a person to the protective grid, the visor or the spectacle frame. to lead. This can prevent insects, stones and other particles from entering the nose.

The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to embodiments shown in the drawing. The drawing shows in:

The first embodiment shown in Figure 1 shows a sports helmet 1 in the form of a bicycle helmet. The sports helmet 1 has a head shell 2, which is designed here as a half shell and should protect the cyclist in a fall. For backlash-free fixation of the head shell 2 at the head of the driver is a fixed to the head shell 2 chin strap 3, which consists of several band sections and prevents slipping of the head shell 2 on the head. The chin strap 3 has in particular on both sides of the face extending band sections, which are connected to each other under the chin by means of a not shown here, but known per se closing device.

On the sports helmet 1, a connected with this air-permeable protective grille 4 is further provided, which is positionable in front of the mouth of the person. The protective grid 4 forms a plurality of openings 5, whose Size is dimensioned so that breathing through the protective grid 4 is not hindered, but flying insects are intercepted. As a result, the driver is not impaired in his sporting activity, while preventing inadvertent inhalation of insects and dirt particles, so that apart from the inconvenience of swallowing a living insect, thus any associated coughing fits and nausea are avoided. Furthermore, the inventive mask eliminates the risk of insect bites in the mouth.

Too small openings 5 may affect the breathing through the protective grid, so that it is desirable to use openings as large as possible. On the other hand, with larger openings increases the risk that small insects are not intercepted by the protective grid. It has been shown that with opening widths in the range of 0.75 to 2.00 mm, it is possible to meet both requirements in the same way. Based on the surface of the protective grid 4, a proportion of openings in the range of 30 to 90% is also recommended.

As shown in Figure 1, the protective grid 4 is fixed in the first embodiment of the chin strap 3 of the sports helmet. In particular, the protective grid 4 may be formed with a frame structure 6, which are coupled to extending on both sides of the face band sections 7 or connecting elements 8 of the band sections. The frame structure 6 can be made of flexible material, in which a flexible mesh material is incorporated in front of the mouth area. In particular, the frame structure 6 can also have a certain elasticity in order to allow a good contact of the frame structure 6 on the face.

In a modification of the illustrated embodiment, the frame structure 6 and embedded in this network can be performed as a substantially dimensionally stable bracket which extends in front of the mouth area and this has a small distance, that is not rests against the face, which is considered by some drivers as ungeehm is felt. It is also possible, in a modification of the illustrated embodiment, the protective grid 4 as a whole form a net-like structure, that is, without a separate frame structure, so that there is good ventilation.

The connection to the chin strap 3 can be made adjustable, so that it is possible for the driver to wegzuschwenken the guard 4, for example, under the chin.

Although it is possible, the protective grid 4 fixed to the sports helmet 1 and here to connect the chin strap 3. Preferably, however, this is designed to be removable, so that it can only be connected to the helmet when needed.

Since trapping of insects through the nose during exercise is rather rare, the illustrated guard 4 is limited to the mouth area. The top edge 9 of the protective grid is accordingly below the nose.

Furthermore, such a protective grid 4 can also be used in sports helmets with a rigid chin guard, as used for example in the down hill area. In this case, it is of course possible to continue to secure the guard 4 on the chin strap 3. Alternatively, however, the protective grid 4 can also be attached directly to the chin guard.

Furthermore, sports helmets 1 can have a transparent visor 10 as additional protection in front of the eye area, as shown by way of example in FIG. The visor 10 can either be rigidly connected to the helmet or, as shown in Figure 3, be pivoted, so that it can fold over the head shell 2 upwards. The visor 10 shown here is pivotally coupled via joints 11 to the head shell 2 and can also be removed if necessary. It extends over the eye area, but leaves the nose free.

On the visor 10, in turn, an air-permeable protective grille 4 is attached, whose properties correspond in relation to the air permeability of the first embodiment. The protective grid 4 is preferably attached to the lower edge 12 of the visor 10 and can be removed if necessary. In this case, the protective grid 4 is designed so that this leaves the nose. Correspondingly, in a middle section, the upper edge 9 of the protective grid 4 extends below the nose, while connecting webs 13 extend on both sides of the nose up to the visor 10 on side sections. Again, the protective grid 4 can again be designed as a frame structure 6 with an embedded, optionally interchangeable network.

Preferably, in the embodiment shown in Figure 3, a dimensionally stable protective grid 4 is used, which is held at a small distance in front of the mouth. However, an attachment to facial parts around the mouth area is possible.

The visor 10 shown in FIG. 4, which is preferably made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), can also be equipped on its inside with a sunshield or film 14. For this purpose, 10 nubs 15, that is, fastening devices are provided on the inside of the visor, via which the sunshade can be releasably fixed. The external appearance of the visor 10 and its aerodynamics are thus not affected.

Such a visor 10 can in principle also be fixed without a helmet merely by means of a band or by means of ironing on the head of a person.

FIG. 2 shows a further protective device in the form of a sports goggle 20, which by way of example here has a half frame 21 as well as two brackets 22 and two eye glasses 23. However, the glasses 20 can also be performed with a two glasses 23 integrating disk or a full frame or in a conventional manner.

On the glasses 20, in turn, an air-permeable protective grille 4 is provided, which is positioned in front of the mouth of a person. The protective grid 4 can be carried out integrally with the glasses 20 or separately fastened to this and be removable from this.

In the former case, the protective grid 4 again has a frame structure 6, in which a network structure already described above with corresponding openings 5 is held. Also in this case, in turn, the nose is recessed, so that the upper edge 9 of a central region of the protective grid 4 is below the nose. Connecting webs 24 extend upwards on both sides of the nose from the frame structure 6 and, for example, adjoin the frame 21 of the eyeglasses 20 in the area of the nose bridge. In the case of a full frame, a connection can also be made, for example, in the area of a web running below an eyeglass 23.

Since sports glasses also represent fashionable accessories, the protective grille 4 will preferably be made detachable, so that it will be connected to the glasses 20 only when necessary. For this purpose, for example, fastening devices come into question, as they are known from attachable sunscreens or nose bridge covers of glacier glasses.

It is also possible to modify a protective grid 4 as shown in FIG. 2 in the region of its connecting webs 24 such that it can be connected to a lower edge of the eyeglasses 23 as in connection with the visor 10 shown in FIG.

In addition to a mouth guard, a nose protector can furthermore be provided, as shown by way of example in FIG. 5 in connection with a safety helmet. This corresponds in its configuration to the helmet shown in Figure 3, wherein in particular the shape of the head shell 2 can be adapted to the particular application. Such helmets can be carried out in particular according to the safety requirements of construction and forestry.

The additional nose guard is in the embodiment shown in Figure 5 by an extension of the protective grid 4 via the nostrils a person realized above. The protective grille 4 can in this case be designed with a body shape roughly modeled section 25, so that, for example, when used as a bike helmet good ergonomic and aerodynamic properties and the combined safety guard when cycling or at work is not perceived as a hindrance. The upper edge of the nose guard is in the embodiment shown in Figure 5 only slightly above the tip of the nose. A complete covering of the nose is also possible.

It is also possible to provide a separate nose protection element as a nose guard, the z. B. is infected to the upper edge 9 of the mouthguard protection grid 4. Such a nose guard can also be attached to the visor.

In the case of the spectacles 20 shown in FIG. 2, a separate nose protection element can be attached to the frame 21 of the same or between the connecting webs 24. It is also possible to extend on a pair of glasses, the mouth guard 4 according to Figure 5 on the nostrils upwards.

The invention has been explained above with reference to exemplary embodiments. However, it is not limited to these embodiments, but includes all embodiments defined by the claims.
