Abstract

A dental impression system is provided. The system includes a decorative dental overlay (200) shaped to fit over one or more teeth of a person and a dental impression tool (100) for creating a decorative impression in the overlay (200). The tool includes a first tool portion (101A) including a first jaw portion (103A), a first grip portion (102A), and a first pivot aperture (104A) located between the first jaw portion (103A) and the first grip portion (102A), the first jaw portion (103A) including a projection (116). The tool further includes a second tool portion (101B) including a second jaw portion (103B), a second grip portion (102B), and a second pivot aperture (104B) located between the second jaw portion (103B) and the second grip portion (102B), the second jaw portion (103B) including a depression (114) that substantially matches the projection (116). The tool further includes a pivot member (107) that passes through the first and second pivot apertures (104A, 104B) and pivotally affixes the first tool portion (101A) to the second tool portion (101B).
