Stockholm, Sweden 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a bending machine for round bar-irons, with a bending table on which the iron to be bent is placed and retained by an abutment or the like during the There is also provided a rod I4 which is adapted to be actuatedby a pedal, for example. At the upper end of said rod is located an abutment l5 or the like which is adapted to be depressed bending arounda bending shaft by means of a 5 t the surface of the table against the action bending arm provided with a bending pin. The .of a spring 16 fixed in a spring casing I1. invention is characterized by a number of cams The device operates as follows. An iron II is or cam disks fixed on a driven shaft, preferably placed between the abutment l and the shaft 8 a screw wheel shaft, each of said cams or cam wherearter the coupling is let in. By cooperation disks being adapted to drive one of several carbetween the motor 2, the coupling 3 and the rier arms slidably mounted in a conventional screw gear in the casing 4 the screw wheel shaft manner on the bending shaft in different angu- 5 and the bending shaft 8"are set in rotation.
lar positions, said carrier arms being axially dis- 1n the accompanying drawing the bending placeable to coupling positions and provided with shaft 8 is provided with five carrier arms 9, derunners and adapted, after the coupling has been noted by a, b, c, d e in t drawing The cam efiected, to impart to the bending shaft a correshaft is provided it 'th same number of cam sponding rotation until the runner has reached disks 5 t d by b d e cooperating the top of the cam and goes Clear of the Same with said carriefarms. Three of said carrier so that the iron placed on the table is bent to arms a) b fc may be o t d t t bending the desired angle in accordance with the numh ft 's' gh manner that they can cooperate ber of cams which have actuated the bending shaft.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show the device from two sides at right angles to each other. Fig. 3' is a top view of the device.
In the drawing the frame and the table are denoted by I. In the frame are arranged a motor 2, a coupling 3 and a screw wheel casing 4. From said casing extends a screw wheel shaft 5 provided with a sleeve wedged on thereto and with five cams or cam disks 6 fixed on said sleeve, each of said cams or cam disks being adapted to drive one of several carrier arms 9 arranged on difierent vertically displaceable sliders embracing the bending shaft 8 in angular positions so that the different carrier arms 9 always extend in spaced angular directions, said sliders being displaceable by means of setting levers 'l to cou pling positions wherein the carrier arms 9 on said sliders are in position to cooperate with the corresponding cam discs 6 on shaft 5. Thecarrier arms 9 are provided with runners Ill and adapted, after the coupling has been effected, to impart to the bending shaft a corresponding. rotation until the runner has reached the top ofthe cam and goes clear of the same so that-the iron H placed on the table is bent to the desired angle in accordance withthe number of cams which have actuated the bending shaft.
In the plane of the table is swingably mounted a bending arm l2 fixed on the shaft 8 and provided at its one end with a bending pin I3.
with the respective cam disks 0), b 0 The connection is effected by means of the; upper setting or shifting lever 1 shown in the drawing.
The two remaining carrier arms, denoted by d, e in the drawing are connected to, the bending shaft 8 in such manner that they-willbeact ted by the cams d and e? "by meg. setting or shifting lever'l shown I I The drawing, shows three carrier 'a a b 0 or the number of carrier arms which need be actuated by three cam disks for such.
rotation of the bending shaft 8 that the iron. inserted between thesupport, the abutment l5 and the bendingshaft 8 is bent It is also clear from the drawing that in the example chosen the cam disks d and e are not in a posttion on the shaft 8 to cooperate with t rier arms 01 and e. I I
Thus, if it is desired to bend" the 1 m... ea? angle of 45, the carrier; armfa. is connected so that the cam 11. on the cam' shaft 5 can drive the carrier shaft in question on the bending shaft 8 so as to move with its runner along the path of the cam until the runner has reached the 7 da connected so as. to cooperate vs'ritlrr thecam d sks The return of the bending arm I2 is effected automatically by coupling in a conventional way.
After finished bending, the arm I4 is depressed and thus also the abutment l5 whereafter the iron ll easily can be removed.
Having now described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a bending machine for bar-irons comprising a supporting table, a bending shaft protruding above the surface of said table for receiving a conventional bending arm with a bending pin at the outer end thereof, and means for rotating said bending shaft, the combination of a number of axially displaceable sliders embracing said bending shaft in fixed angular position in relation to same, each having at least one carrier arm laterally projecting therefrom, all of said carrier arms having a runner at its outer end and being axially and angularly spaced relatively to each other, a driving shaft parallel to said bending shaft having a number of axially and angularly fixed and spaced cam discs adapted to cooperate with said runners at the outer ends of said carrier arms for transmitting rotative movement to said bending shaft, and means for axial displacement of said sliders along said bending shaft for putting said carrier arms in and out of contact with their corresponding cam discs on said driving shaft.
