L. s. S HRQEDER ALARM DEVICE Filed A ril 29. 1922 A TTORNEYS INVENTOR.
Patented Mar. 11, 1924.
UNITED STATES LULU S. SOHROEDER, OF LANSING, MICHIGAN.
ALARM DEVICE.
Application filed April 2a, 1922. Serial 1%. 557,476.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LULU S. Sonnonnnn, a citizen of the United States, residin at. Lansing, county of Ingham, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Alarm Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in alarm devices.
My improved alarm device is especially designed by me for the use of deaf people, although it is desirable for the use of others as in traveling, or for nurses, and in other instances where a sound alarm is objectionable.
The main object of; this invention is to provide an improved alarm device which may be attached to the wrist or. some other ortion of the body and awaken the sleeper by a vibratin or other membercoming in contactwith t e body when actuated by the alarm.
Further objects, and objectspertaining to details and economies of construction and operation will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of 'the inventionby the devices and means described in the following specification; The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claim.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of the invention isfully illustrated Y in the accompanying drawingforming a part of this application, in which:
Fig. I is a front view of my improved alarm device.
Fig. II is a side view thereof, the same being shown in position on the arm of a.
person, the housin for the alarm actuated member being partially broken away to disclose the position of the member therein.
In the drawings similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts in both views.
Referring to the drawing the timepiece casing 1 is shown more or less conventionally and the mechanism thereof is not. disclosed as timepiece and alarm mechanisms dir ig.
' he timepiece is mounted upon the straps 4 by means of which it may be attached as to rest on the arm of a person. Thus arranged, when the vibrating member 2 is actuated it strikes or taps the arm, thereby giving the alarm.
e:---,While I have designed my alarm especially for the benefit or the use of deaf people, 3 it is very desirable for use by travelers, nurses and the like where sounding alarms are not desirable.
I have illustrated my improvements more .or less conventionally as the structural details eithe timepiece mechanism form no part of'lmy invention. It is believed, however, that the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relates to embody or adapt the same as ma be desired.
aving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:;. p
In an alarm device, the combination of a time piece comprising a casing and an alarm mechanism including a vibrating member actuated by the alarm mechanism and projecting from the edge of the casing to engage the body of the person to whom the device is attached, a housing for said vibrating member open on its under side, and an attaching strap on which the casin is mounted for securing to the body, saic casing being mounted on said strap so that said housing lies at one edge of the strap. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
LULU S. SCHROEDER.
