Description
The invention relates to a system for providing a inhalable aerosol and components of such a systems. This system is especially called smoke art Suitable for providing smoke aerosol for smokers net.
When smoking conventional cigarettes, the most of the tobacco not in the trains but in burned the train breaks. This leads to the formation of the so-called called sidestream smoke, which is often considered by non - smokers is perceived as annoying.
There are numerous new ones to overcome this problem Smoking articles have been proposed. A common prin zip of such developments is that not combustion heat the tobacco, but other energy sources for free smoke aerosol. This will largely avoid the creation of sidestream smoke the. Often come in the proposed smoking articles for aerosol formation instead of tobacco replacement materials such as spe Certain film tobacco or aroma substances suggested carrier materials for application.
For example, U.S. Patents 5,060,666, 5,067,499 and 5 099 861 cigarette-like smoking articles described in which the thermal energy of a glowing carbon element is transferred to aerosol-forming material that besides Tobacco or tobacco extract flavors and an aerosol image contains such as glycerin. Doing the combustion gases of the heating element with the smoke aerosol inhaled what to an increased absorption of carbon monoxide by the Smoker leads. Furthermore, the entire smoking article to be disposed of after smoking, which increases Accumulation of complex composite residues and thus associated disposal problems.
Devices are also known in which means a portion of substrate is heated to electrical energy Release smoke aerosol. Such a device that must be held in the hand and because of their size and their weight is not portable in the mouth is in that U.S. Patent 4,141,369. More cigarette-like che smoking articles in which special tobacco flavor substrates be electrically heated by means of battery power while doing so an inhalable aerosol are disclosed in the US patents 5,095,921, 5,179,666 and 5,269,327. A ciga saving for an electrically heated smoke system shows the US Patent 5,499,636. However, all of these devices are rela tiv heavy and unwieldy.
From U.S. Patent 4,474,181 are smoking devices known in which nicotine and tobacco-simulating Substan zen indirectly, e.g. B. on flammable cellulose foams, he warms and inhales.
Here are in a housing to be held in hand a burner and a heating medium tank which contains a heating medium for operating the Brenners contains. The ascending, hot combustion gases flow through a heat exchanger in the fan on channels are arranged. The ventilation channels are in place one end connected to the outside air and mun the other end into one from the top of the Housing outgoing tubular flow channel, the its free end is designed as a mouthpiece. The middle The lower section of the flow channel is separated by a sub stratportion taken by by the user Air sucked in and heated via the heat exchanger is indirectly heated to release aerosol. This too System is relatively heavy and unwieldy and has to be opened to insert a new portion of substrate.
It is an object of the invention to be light, handy and System ready for use by a user in the mouth to create an inhalable aerosol, the one contains reusable inhaler and esp can serve as a special smoking article that has a similar Taste impression like conventional cigarettes offers, when using it, however, no ne between the trains benstrom smoke is generated.
This task is solved by a system with the Features of claim 1 comprising an inhaler having the features of claim 26 and a substrate por tion with the features of claim 28. Advantage adhesive embodiments of the invention result from the dependent claims.
The system according to the invention for providing a inhalable aerosol has an inhalation device, which is a rod-like housing with a rear mouth side gen area and a front area. In the front The area of the housing is a heating device heatable substrate holder arranged over a front preferably located on the front of the housing opening is accessible. A flow channel leads from the substrate holder to the rear end of the Housing. The heater is set up to thermal or catalytic combustion to generate heat gene, preferably a heating medium tank in the rear Area of the housing is arranged. The system contains also a substrate portion, which is for insertion into the sub strat bracket set up through the loading opening and is inside an enclosure that has an air intake opening and has an aerosol outlet, aerosol contains educational material.
Because the energy needed to heat the aerosol taken from a gaseous and / or liquid heating medium is an inexpensive and easy to obtain High energy density energy sources available. The Inha Liervorrichtung can therefore even if they have a vol len contains heating medium tank, so light and handy construction be that it is easily in the mouth by a user can be worn. The rod-like housing is located here good in hand and gives the user roughly the Ge feel a cigarette with a cigarette holder or a Ci to smoke. The substrate portion is in the front loading rich of the rod-like housing in the heatable substrate holder used, namely via a loading opening tion, which is preferably on the front of the housing ses located. This reinforces the impression of a cigar or to use a cigarette with a cigarette holder. The sub stratportion is over the heated substrate holder warms to release inhalable aerosol that passes over the Flow channel ge to the rear end of the housing leads.
The inhalation can be in the rear of the housing direction have a mouthpiece that matches the flow channel is connected and would preferably be bad is conductive, so that no unpleasant for the user high temperatures occur. Instead of the mouthpiece it is conceivable to use a filter designed as a filter mouthpiece rear area of the housing into the flow channel clog. In one variant, one filter is on another Can be used in the current channel; such an out design can also be related to a fixed Mouthpiece can be used.
In a preferred embodiment, the substrate holder of the inhaler at least one heating surface che on, which is preferably hollow cylindrical or channel-like is. The substrate holder can for example be two in parallel have mutually arranged heating surfaces, the opposite term distance is preferably adjustable. It is conceivable that the adjustment of the distance depending of the temperature is done automatically, e.g. B. with the help of egg ner bimetal rail. In a preferred embodiment has the substrate holder of the inhaler inside half of the heating surfaces, preferably with holes provided well heat-conducting jacket, which turned to is aimed at one inserted into the substrate holder Serve the substrate portion. These embodiments ge ensure good thermal contact (either di right over the heating surfaces or over the heat-conducting Jacket) between the heating surfaces and the zone of the sub stratportion, which is located in the area of the heating surfaces. The heating surfaces or the jacket need the substrate portion but do not touch directly; Embodiments in which a distance from the substrate portion is provided and the heat metransport z. B. by radiation are also conceivable.
The substrate holder preferably has the inhaler device behind the heating surfaces a rear cavity in which the rear area of an inserted substrate portion can be inserted. This configuration allows that User to heat a portion of substrate in sections and inhale the released aerosol. He pushes the substrate portion gradually, preferably depending on the train, a little further back, the ver needed part of the substrate portion from the back cavity space is taken up until the entire portion of substrate is used up (smoked). To prevent the sub Stratportion too far into the housing of the inhaler can be inserted at the rear end of the rear Cavity provided a stop for the substrate portion his.
In a preferred embodiment, the heating surfaces are Chen the inhaler set up by kata lytic combustion of a gaseous and / or liquid Heating medium to be heated. A catalytic burn voltage avoids difficulties in flame control the heater, which a compact design is coming.
A heating medium that can preferably be refilled from the outside tank can be in the rear of the inhaler housing device be arranged. An alternative is an embodiment tion conceivable, with a replaceable refill cartridge is inserted into the housing with heating medium. As heating element usual flammable substances that come into question Room temperature can be liquid or gaseous, such as specified in the claims in detail.
The inhalation device can have a switching device point that with a for igniting the heating medium aimed, preferably piezoelectric ignition device and one for releasing heating medium the heating device tank valve device in Ver bond stands. In a preferred embodiment the switching device is designed and has purely mechanical one axially on the front area of the housing of the In halator movable, preferably bad heat-conducting ring, which is preferably in two positions gene can be fixed. For example, the piezoelectric caused ignition process by moving the ring out be resolved, at the same time the valve device opens to release heating medium for catalytic combustion admit; then the ring is turned to lock it the valve device remains open and the heating operation continues. When enough time has passed, e.g. B. after finishing a train, the user can move the ring unlock by turning back and into its starting point sition push back, preferably with support a spring takes place so that the valve device again closes and the heating process is finished.
The front region of the housing preferably has the inhalation device air inlet openings for delivery of combustion air to the heater. The of the combustion device emitting combustion gases (in essential carbon dioxide and water) occur at a be preferred embodiment of the invention to the inhalier aerosol, added by the traits of the user favorable air, combustion gas and aerosol guidance is achievable. Especially in the case of catalytic combustion The combustion gases contain such small amounts harmful substances such as B. carbon monoxide that this is harmless. In another preferred embodiment Form of the invention, however, the combus Gases kept away from the inhalable aerosol.
In an advantageous embodiment, the housing has the Inhalation device in front of one when the heater is in operation tung glowing component. e.g. B. a heating surface Window. The user can then easily the loading Check the operating status of the inhaler.
The housing of the inhaler can be in one piece or be designed in several parts. In the latter case, it is preferred wise in two parts and has a detachable connection, e.g. B. in the middle area between the front area of the housing in which the heated substrate holder is ordered, and the rear area of the housing, in where the heating medium tank is located. At the detachable ver binding, the housing can be opened, e.g. B. for Reini purposes. The material for the housing of the inhaler device should be heat resistant. This is how Duro come plastic, multi-component plastics, hardwoods, precious wood, root wood and / or metal in question.
The substrate portion preferably has a cylindrical one Shape, with the covering arranged as a cylinder jacket is and the end faces of the cylinder as an air inlet opening and are set up as an aerosol outlet opening. It is the covering is preferably low-porous to air-impermeable casual to avoid sidestream smoke. In your front portion, the substrate portion can be an isolator have envelope, preferably over the front end of the wrapping protrudes so that the user when returning push the substrate portion into the housing of the inhaler device does not come into contact with hot surfaces. The aerosol-forming material of the substrate portion can be a largely inert carrier material or tobacco material and have additional additives. Preferably contains the material has a higher percentage of polyols than aero serve sol formers. It is also conceivable that the substrate por tion is a thin, filterless cigarette that is commercially available is the polyols in a proportion of 5 wt .-% to 10 wt .-% % having. Details about possible configurations the substrate portion can be found in the claims.
Die Zeichnungen zeigen in:In the following the invention is based on an embodiment example explained in more detail. The drawings show in:
Fig. 1 einen schematischen Längsschnitt durch ein als Rauchartikel gestaltetes erfindungsgemäßes System zur Be reitstellung eines inhalierbaren Aerosols, bei dem eine Sub stratportion in eine Inhaliervorrichtung eingesetzt ist, und Fig. 1 shows a schematic longitudinal section through a system designed as a smoking article according to the invention for loading an inhalable aerosol, in which a sub-portion is used in an inhalation device, and
Fig. 2 einen Längsschnitt durch eine Substratportion. Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section through a substrate portion.
Fig. 2 zeigt die Substratportion 1 genauer. In Fig. 1 is shown as a portion of substrate 1 is inserted into a smoking device serving as the inhaler device. Fig. 2 shows the portion of substrate 1 in more detail. In this embodiment of the substrate portion 1 , aerosol-forming material 2 is located within a cylindrical envelope 3 . The casing 3 leaves the end faces of the cylinder free, so that there is an air inlet opening 4 and an aerosol outlet opening 5 are formed.
The aerosol-forming material 2 can, for. B. cut leaf tobacco, cut tobacco ribs, reconstituted tahak or a carrier material treated with aroma substances. Leaf and rib cuts can also be used in expanded form. As carrier materials for flavorings, both organic materials such. B. paper or cellulose fibers, as well as inorganic materials such. B. silica gel are used. Any mixtures of the components mentioned can also be used. In the claims numerous components and components for the aerosol-forming material are mentioned, so that numerous variants are conceivable.
In order to increase the aerosol formation, the aerosol-forming material 2 preferably contains a high proportion of egg nes polyol or several polyols, for. B. glycerol and / or propylene glycol, e.g. B. when using largely inert carrier materials such as aluminum oxide, silica gel, activated carbon, cellulose fibers, lignin granules, zeolites, clays or meerschaum or combinations thereof in the range of 10 wt .-% to 60 wt .-%. When using tobacco materials, the preferred proportion of the polyols is 10% by weight to 40% by weight. Another possibility of increasing the aerosol formation is the use of the aerosol-forming materials with a moisture which is significantly above the equilibrium moisture content; so z. B. tobacco, the equilibrium moisture content is about 10% to 12%, can be used with a moisture content of 20%. In this case, suitable packaging must be used to ensure that there is no loss of moisture until use.
The envelope 3 can consist of paper, plastic film or metal foil. A multi-layer covering made of the components mentioned can also be used. However, a single-layer wrapping made of paper or metal-clad paper is preferred. Low-strength or almost air-impermeable cigarette paper, which preferably has a high proportion of mineral additives, is particularly advantageous. This ensures that practically no secondary smoke occurs when the substrate portion is heated and smoked.
In a preferred embodiment, the substrate portion 1 is surrounded in its front region, that is to say in the region of the air inlet opening 4 , by an additional insulating sheath (not shown in FIGS . 1 and 2) which protrudes preferably above the front end of the sheath 3 . This insulating covering ensures that the user does not come into contact with uncomfortably hot surfaces when he pushes the substrate portion 1 deeper into the inhaler when smoking (see below). It is also conceivable to use a thin, filterless, commercially available cigarette as substrate portion, which has polyols with a proportion of 5% by weight to 10% by weight.
Two further examples of configurations of the substrate portion 1 are described below.
An American blend tobacco blend with a grade of 30% Burley tobacco, 40% expanded Virginia tobacco, 20% unexpanded Virginia tobacco and 10% Orient Ta Bak was conditioned and with 12 wt .-% of an aqueous Casings sprayed with a glycerol content of 80 wt .-%. The tobacco was then cut with a 0.8 mm cutting width cut and dried to a moisture of 12%. 180 kg of this cut tobacco was expanded with 20 kg Rib cut mixed. This mixture became an endless cigarette with a Diameter of 5 mm and a plug density of 200 mg / ml prepared. A came up as wrapping material aluminum-coated, airtight on the outside Paper used. The endless strand was in single pores cut 40 mm long.
Durch Ablängen des Endlosstranges (6 mm Durchmesser) erhielt man Substratportionen mit einer jeweiligen Länge von 50 mm; die Stopfdichte betrug 240 mg/ml.A paper film produced by known methods tobacco with a propylene glycol content of 12% by weight was cut with a cutting width of 0.8 mm, like in example 1 fed to a cigarette rod machine and in this wrapped with a cigarette paper, the Ci garette paper had an air permeability of 5 CU. By cutting the endless strand (6 mm diameter) portions of substrate with a respective length were obtained from 50 mm; the plug density was 240 mg / ml.
In principle, the use of a substrate portion is also conceivable, which is provided behind the aerosol outlet opening 5 with a commercially available filter. However, it must be ensured that when inserting such a sub-portion into the inhalation device not the filter, but the aerosol-forming material 2 is heated in front of the filter.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment in a schematic longitudinal section of an inhaler 10th The inhaler device 10 has a rod-like or cigar-shaped housing 12 with a front region 14 and a rear mouth-side region 16 . The rear end piece of the rear area 16 is designed as a mouthpiece 18 , see FIG. 1.
The housing 12 is preferably made of a heat-resistant material such as a thermoset, a multi-component plastic, a hardwood, a noble wood, burl wood or metal or from several such materials. In order to avoid that the user comes into contact with hot surfaces, critical points are provided with a heat insulation or consist of heat-insulating materials.
In the exemplary embodiment, the housing 12 is formed in two parts, the front region 14 and the rear region 16 being able to be joined via a connection 20 . At the connection 20 , the front area 14 and the rear area 16 of the housing 12 can be plugged into one another, a guide, not shown in FIG. 1, in which a projection engages in a groove, defines a defined position of the rear area 16 with respect to ensures the front area 14 and prevents twisting ver. To secure a thin-walled union nut 21 which engages richly on an external thread on the rear loading 16 . An insulating ring 22 largely prevents heat transfer from the heated area 14 of the housing 12 during operation to the rear loading area 16 with the mouthpiece 18th When the housing 12 is opened at the connection 20 , the Inhaliervor device 10 can be cleaned.
On the front side 23 of the housing 12 there is a loading opening 24 through which a portion of substrate 1 can be inserted into the interior of the housing 12 . For holding the substrate portion 1 is used a substrate holding tion 26, which comprises a on the outer diameter of the substrate portion 1 adapted guide sleeve 28th Arranged behind the guide sleeve 28 is a heating surface 30 which is of hollow cylindrical design in the exemplary embodiment. Behind the heating surface 30 , the substrate holder 26 has a rear cavity 32 into which the rear region of a substrate portion 1 inserted can be inserted.
An axially arranged flow channel 34 extends over the full length of the rear region 16 of the housing 12 and extends from the rear cavity 32 to the rear end of the mouthpiece 18th
The heating surface 30 is a component of a heating device operating in the exemplary embodiment as a flameless operating annealing catalyst for heating the substrate holder 26 . Combustion air for operating the heating device can enter the housing 12 via air inlet openings 36 in the front region 14 . When the heating surface 30 is at a high temperature, it heats the zone of the substrate portion 1 , which is in its area. If, in the exemplary embodiment, the heating surface 30 is designed as a hollow cylinder, it heats the region of the substrate portion 1 which is just arranged in its interior. In the exemplary embodiment, the inside diameter of the heating surface 30 is larger than the outside diameter of the substrate portion 1 . The heat is transported from the heating surface 30 to the substrate portion 1 predominantly by radiation. The heating surface 30 can also be arranged in such a way that heat is transported by conduction. In this case, it is advantageous if the heating surface 30 does not directly touch the substrate portion 1 , but if a jacket, preferably provided with bores, is arranged within the heating surface 30 , which is made of a good heat conducting material such as. B. aluminum and which is matched in its dimensions to the substrate portion 1 , so that it preferably bears directly on the substrate portion 1 (not shown in Fig. 1). Numerous variants are conceivable for the design of the heating surface 30 . Several heating surfaces can also be provided, e.g. B. two parallel heating surfaces, or other shapes for the heating surface can be selected, for. B. a shape with gutter-like profile. It is essential that the heating surface 30 a He-heating of the present in their area zone of sub stratportion 1 on the outside of the substrate portion 1 be acting, so direct heating, as opposed to an indirect heating in the heated gas (especially air) is pulled through the substrate portion.
The heating required to operate the heating medium, for. B. butane gas, pentane or isopropanol is located in a heating medium tank 38 , which is arranged in the rear region 16 of the housing 12 . The heating medium tank 38 can be refilled via a refill nozzle 40 which is guided to the outside and is provided with a closure. In the exemplary embodiment, the heating medium tank 38 is shaped like a ring, the flow channel 34 leading through its axial loading area. Instead of a refillable heating medium tank 38 , a heating medium tank designed as a refill cartridge can also be provided, which is inserted as a whole into the rear area 16 of the housing 12 . Alternatively, it is conceivable to design the entire rear area 16 of the housing 12 as a one-way article which is exchanged when the heating medium tank 38 is empty.
By heating from the Heizmitteltank 38 to the Heizflä che to lead 30, a valve must be opened 42, which opens into a heating medium line 44, which is connected to the heating surface thirtieth Since in the exemplary embodiment the front loading area 14 can be separated from the rear area 16 of the housing 12 , the heating medium line 44 must also have a separation point which is designed as a sealed coupling 46 .
To ignite the heating medium and to actuate the valve 42 , a mechanical switching device is used which has an axially displaceable, poorly heat-conducting ring 48 on the front region 14 of the housing 12 . On the outside of the ring 48 is seen ver with a grip surface. If the ring 48 is moved backwards, that is in the direction of the arrows shown in Fig. 1, the valve 42 is opened so that heating medium from the heating medium tank 38 can flow to the heating surface 30 , and at the same time actuates a piezoelectric igniter 50 , which the initiates catalytic combustion of the heating medium. In the position moved backwards, the ring 48 can be locked by twisting. The valve 42 remains open in this position of the ring 48 , so that the catalytic combustion continues and the heating surface 30 emits heat, even if the igniter 50 is not active during this period. When the heating process is to be ended, the ring 48 is entarre by rotating in the opposite direction and pushed forward. The Ven til 42 closes. Preferably, a spring not shown in FIG. 1 presses the ring 48 forward. The mechanical components for actuating the valve 42 and the ignition 50 are not drawn in FIG. 1 for the sake of clarity.
If a user wants to use the inhaler 10 , he first pushes a fresh portion of substrate 1 . e.g. B. a special slim cigarette with a diameter of 5 mm and a length of 40 mm, through the feed opening 24 until the rear zone of the substrate portion 1 comes to rest in the area of the heating surface 30 . If he wants to inhale the first train, he pulls the ring 48 towards the mouthpiece 18 and locks it by twisting. As already explained, thereby heating medium flows to the heating surface 30 and is ignited. Due to the heat given off during the catalytic combustion, the zone of the substrate portion 1 is heated in the area of the heating surface 30 , so that the aerosol-forming material 2 releases flavor aerosol. When the user pulls on the mouthpiece 18 , air passes through the air inlet opening 4 into the substrate portion 1 and promotes the flavor aerosol through the aerosol outlet opening 5 of the substrate portion 1 via the flow channel 34 to the user. Additional air, which serves for dilution, preferably enters via the air inlet openings 36 . In the exemplary embodiment, the inhaled aerosol contains carbon dioxide and water vapor from the catalytic combustion of the heating medium. If the housing 12 has a window (not shown in FIG. 1) which allows the user a view of the heating surface 30 , he sees that the heating surface 30 lights up red when ignited and then when he pulls on the mouthpiece 18 , changes color to light red.
Before taking the next move, the user pushes the substrate portion 1 a bit towards the mouthpiece 18 . The rear, smoked zone of the substrate portion 1 enters the rear cavity 32 , while a fresh zone reaches the area of the heating surface 30 . This way, fresh flavor aerosol flows to the user on the next train. In order to save heating medium and to avoid bypass smoke, the user can unlock the ring 48 after each pull by turning it counterclockwise and push it forward so that the valve 42 closes. The last train is taken when the substrate portion 1 abuts the insulating ring 22 . The user can then pull the substrate portion 1 out of the housing 12 through the loading opening 24 and dispose of it.
In the described embodiment of the inhaler device 10 , the user ensures by pulling on the mouthpiece 18 for the required flow of ambient air through the air inlet openings 36 to the heating surface 30 (catalytic combustion) and through the air inlet opening 4 into the substrate portion 1 and through the substrate portion 1 through it. The resulting in the catalytic combustion, the combustion gases are sucked into the flow channel 34 and, as already mentioned, add to the inhaled aerosol. Since the catalytic combustion is fairly complete, the content of carbon monoxide and other undesirable substances from the combustion in the inhaled aerosol is low, so that this type of gas and aerosol guidance is acceptable.
However, it is also possible to keep the combustion gases away from the inhaled aerosol. For this purpose, for example within the heating surface 30, a sleeve of good heat-conducting metal is provided at both ends of fen, which connects the guide sleeve 28 with the rear cavity 32 so that the combustion gases do not occur to the flow channel 34 . This sleeve preferably lies in heat-conducting contact on an inserted portion of substrate 1 . In this embodiment, the wall of the housing 12 must have at least one outlet opening for the combustion gases. The desired flow from the air inlet openings 36 via the heating surface 30 to this outlet opening can be achieved by a temperature gradient (thermal).
