Celtic news: Jack Hendry looks set to seal Melbourne City transfer today

JACK HENDRY looks set to seal his move to Australian side Melbourne City today.

The 24-year-old Celtic defender jetted Down Under yesterday with a view to completing a loan move to the A-League side.

The Scotland defender has been frozen out at Parkhead and featured for just 11 minutes for Neil Lennon’s first team this season, in the 5-0 Betfred Cup demolition of Partick Thistle.

Hearts and Ross County were both keen to land the former Dundee stopper, but he looks set to end his Celtic hell by securing a temporary switch to Erick Mombaerts’ men.

As long as there are no unexpected late hitches, Hendry could even make his debut for City in Saturday’s home clash against Perth Glory.

City, who are Manchester City's sister club, defeated Newcastle Jets 2-0 at the weekend courtesy of goals from Craig Noone and former Hibs striker Jamie Maclaren.

Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong has accused ref Alan Muir of having it in for him following his double penalty blunder.

The young Celtic defender found himself on the wrong end of two spot-kick howlers at Firhill.

Muir failed to award Frimpong a penalty when he was clearly pushed by James Penrice in the first half.

And in stoppage time he wrongly penalised the Hoops' teenage full-back for a superb last-ditch block on Dario Zanatta.

Frimpong said: “In the first half I clearly got past the full-back and he clips me.

“I spoke to the referee but he didn’t do anything.

“At the end I was sure I got in front of the player to make the clearance. But he still gives the penalty. I don’t know, maybe the ref doesn’t like me.”

Frimpong was yellow-carded for his alleged infringement but was perplexed as to why Muir didn’t send him off.

He said: “I was pretty sure he was then going to give me a red card as well.

“If I’m denying a goal-scoring opportunity it is a sending off. If it is a foul it is a red. I don’t know why he didn’t give me a red.”
