Anderson Silva shuts down ‘crazy’ Daniel Cormier following GOAT snub: ‘Jon Jones is the best fighter’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who also wears the heavyweight strap after melting Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nevada, is not prepared to call Jon Jones or Anderson Silva all-time greats — like himself — because of their checkered history when it comes to pre- and post-fight drug tests.

“DC” will, however, allow Demetrious Johnson and Georges St-Pierre into the conversation.

As you might expect, Silva was unimpressed with the Olympian’s assessment, pointing out that Cormier failed to defeat Jones on two separate occasions, regardless if United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) was involved (and it was).

“When you talk about people, you need to be careful because you never know about your life,” Silva told CBS Sports. “You never know about your future. I think Daniel is very lucky and completely lucky because never beating Jon Jones, of course, because Jon Jones in my opinion is the best fighter at 205. I respect Danny, but when he is talking about me and Jon Jones, he’s completely crazy because Jon Jones is the best fighter.”

Silva also slammed “Danny” for mugging-and-hugging his way to victory when they fought on short notice at UFC 200.

Silva and Jones are both serving drug-tests suspensions for their respective hiccups in 2017. “The Spider” is expected to make his Octagon comeback this November (perhaps against this guy) while Jones still doesn’t have a timeline for his return.

Is normal.
