In response to Chuck Liddell, Jon Jones says ‘come get it’

If Chuck Liddell wants to challenge Jon Jones, Jones says he is here for that.

Jones wrote Monday on Twitter, hours after Liddell said on The MMA Hour that he wanted to fight Jones, that the legendary fighter can “come get it” if that’s what he wants. Jones wrote to Liddell that he would “literally fly you out to Albuquerque this weekend” for a fight.

In a subsequent tweet, Jones wrote Liddell “might want to test the strength of that jaw” before any kind of bout happens.

Liddell, 48, told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour that he’s coming out of retirement after eight years and targeting a fight with Tito Ortiz in late 2018 under the Golden Boy Promotions banner. “The Iceman,” a UFC Hall of Famer and one of the greatest and most popular fighters at light heavyweight, said he’d like a pair of tuneup fights and then a shot at Jones, considered the best pound-for-pound fighter of all time.

Jones, 30, is currently serving a provisional USADA suspension after testing positive for a steroid in a drug test stemming from his UFC 214 fight with Daniel Cormier in July 2017. Jones, the former longtime UFC light heavyweight champion, is facing a four-year suspension from the UFC’s anti-doping partner, but the sanction is still unknown with the adjudication process ongoing.
