Jamie Carragher has labelled Sadio Mane as the best wide player for Liverpool since John Barnes and has also made a huge claim about the forward in relation to Mohamed Salah.

Mane has been outstanding for Liverpool this season and has bagged the most goals not including penalties in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals in the Premier League, something which led to Carragher analysing his performances in detail during his latest appearance on Monday Night Football.

But Carragher didn't just stop at simply praising the Senegal international, he compared him to Liverpool legend Barnes, he said he was more important than Salah and also claimed Liverpool would have won the league in 2009 had Mane been on board then.

"I think sometimes he goes under the radar. You talk about Salah and the goalkeeper (Alisson) and the impact these players have had, he's (Mane) the best wide player Liverpool have had in 30 years," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"You have to go back to John Barnes since Liverpool have had a player like Mane. That's big because John Barnes is in my top five or six players to have ever played for Liverpool."

Manchester United legend Gary Neville then jumped in and asked: "If you had to lose one of Mane or Mo Salah for the run-in, who would it be?"

Carragher responded: "Salah. They have the same amount of goals. I'm a massive fan of Mane.
