Andre Gomes has started training with the Everton squad this week.

The on loan midfielder has yet to play for the Blues despite joining on loan from Barcelona almost two months ago on deadline day.

Gomes picked up a hamstring injury during pre-season with the Spanish giants and suffered a set-back in August which has delayed his Everton bow further.

Marco Silva recently rubbished rumours that Gomes was dealing with fresh complications in his comeback and said the 25-year-old was targeting this week to begin full training with the squad.

And Gomes is understood to have joined in sessions with Silva and the rest of the Blues players in the past few days.

Saturday's trip to Leicester City will come too soon for the former Valencia midfielder but with an international break following the game at the King Power Stadium, Gomes will be eyeing the home fixture with Crystal Palace on Sunday, October 21 to be part of an Everton squad for the first time.

Silva revealed to the ECHO that he has plans to organise a behind closed doors friendly at Finch Farm to help the squad's injured and fringe players regain match fitness.

Yerry Mina, another deadline day signing from Barcelona, had been in line to make his Everton debut last weekend but he suffered a stamp on his foot during training and had to miss out.
