Just when you thought the polka dot Zara dress couldn't get any bigger, more news emerges that amplifies its current cult status - someone got married in it.

Gulnaz Khusneeva, who was pregnant for her big day, chose the style as her wedding dress when she married her now-husband in May at a registry office in the city of Kazan in the central Russian republic of Tatarstan. She teamed the dress with a pair of white mules and a white bouquet.

Huffington Post reports that Khusneeva, a low-maintenance bride, was planning on wearing something from her existing wardrobe until her sister stepped in. “She forbade me to go to the registry office in an old dress and bought me a new dress the day before our wedding,” said Khusneeva. “I felt happy! I didn’t need anything else: my husband, my close friends and my perfect wedding dress.”

The bride had no idea that the £39.99 Zara look was so popular, attracting a dedicated instagram account. At the height of the summer in July, eBay reports the spotty dress was being searched for 49 times an hour.

Khusneeva - whose baby is due any day n0w - says she has another important occasion that she plans to wear the dress for. “I’m going to wear it for my discharging from the maternity hospital,” she says. “Historically important days in our family are associated with a magical dress from Zara!”
