AFL’s rich list slashed as COVID-19 cutbacks leave just TWO players with more than $1mil

AFL’s COVID-19 cutbacks have been laid bare with just two players earning over $1 million from the 2020 season.

With a 29.17 per cent cut due to coronavirus, Total Player Payments dropped $72 million to $170 million, detailed in information released by league headquarters on Friday.

The average player salary for a listed player in 2020 was $259, 651 decreasing from $363,430, for the 2019 year.

AFL Media reported that the four biggest earning players in 2020 were Jeremy Cameron, Lance Franklin, Jack Martin and Dustin Martin.

The group all were paid $900,000 or more.

In 2019, nine players earned seven figures.
