Bizarre footage has emerged on social media showing two women fighting outside an RSL club in Australia. 

Filmed outside Southport RSL on the Gold Coast, a middle-aged woman in a white shirt can be seen running towards another lady in green before striking her viciously from behind. 

Armed with an umbrella, the lady responds with a flurry of blows herself.

The pair continue their public stoush for close to 10 seconds before one of the ladies eventually walks off.

It remains unclear if the pair knew one another. 

The reason for the disagreement also remains a mystery.

The clip had been shared just under 100,000 times on Instagram within four hours.

One Instagram user mcfish 101 jokingly lamented that 'not enough handbags' were used in the 15 second clip while another user rubywillo said she was 'dying' with laughter.
