Having being caught with its pants down on a few occasions, the appearance of the new generation BMW 2-Series Coupe is no much of a well-preserved secret.
Previous scoops and leaked photos show an evolution of the design language, with fussier angular headlamps that protrude into the bumper, a normal, for BMW‘s latest standards, sized kidney grille, taillamps that remind of the old E9X 3-Series and sharper creases for the shoulder line.

Our friends at Kolesa have put the spotlight on the car by virtually removing the camouflage and dressing all of the above-mentioned design traits, as well as others, such as the beefier side skirts, muscular hood and thin boot lid spoiler. The illustrations also show it with darkened taillights, five double-spoke wheels and red brake calipers.
They might not share the same platform, but the next 2-Series Coupe (pictured above) and new 2-Series Gran Coupe will have the same dash
The 2022 2-Series Coupe will be based on the rear-wheel drive CLAR architecture, unlike the 2-Series Gran Coupe, which is built on a front-wheel drive platform shared with the X1 and X2, among others. Rumored to be unveiled in the coming months before arriving in the U.S. in the second half of next year, it will be offered with a variety of turbocharged powertrains, from the three-cylinder units that will be kept away from North America, to inline-fours and sixes.
The family will be topped by the M2 model, which is expected to feature a de-tuned version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six from the new M3 and M4, with around 400 HP.
