WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Loki episode 6.

He Who Remains actor Jonathan Majors teased his evil variants in the Loki finale, and now the theories that those variants are versions of Kang the Conqueror have been confirmed. In Loki episode 4, the Time Variance Authority brings Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino) before the Time-Keepers for execution. While there, the Loki variants manage to break free, and Lady Loki decapitates one of the Time-Keepers. Surprisingly, the Time-Keepers are revealed to be robots, and it's apparent that someone else is pulling strings at the TVA.

Loki and Lady Loki become set on getting to the person behind the TVA and bringing them down. In the Loki finale, they finally have the chance. After enchanting the matter-eating monster Alioth, the two Loki variants arrive at the Citadel at the End of Time. There, they finally meet He Who Remains, the person behind the TVA. According to He Who Remains, the TVA is the only thing stopping an infinite number of his variants from starting a Multiversal War. But Lady Loki ignores his warnings and kills him anyway. The act lets the Multiverse lose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He Who Remains is vague about his variants in the Loki finale, but now they're confirmed to be Kang the Conqueror. In the finale, Majors' character teases that killing him will bring something far worse. "You came to kill the devil, right?" he tells the Loki variants, adding, "If you think I'm evil, well, just wait till you meet my variants." Though he doesn't give details about the terrible variants on the way, the Marvel Studios Assembled documentary about the making of Loki reveals that the variants are Kang the Conqueror. In the documentary, Hiddleston says the variant that He Who Remains is "so afraid" of is "Kang." Majors also confirms the reveal.

There were hints of He Who Remains' true identity. Loki dropped Kang the Conqueror Easter eggs from the beginning. Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the person who carried out the Time-Keepers' wishes at the TVA, is Kang's love interest from the Marvel comics, and the logo of the TVA even looks like the comics' version of Kang. Additionally, at Disney's Investor Day in 2020, Majors was announced as Kang in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While all signs pointed to Majors' playing a variant of Kang the Conqueror in Loki, the documentary gives explicit confirmation.

In addition to confirming Kang is coming, the documentary sheds some light on what fans can expect. Expanding on Hiddleston's reveal, Majors talks about his character, saying the idea behind He Who Remains was to give him the largest canvas possible. "And then from that, as Kang begins to rear his head and do his deeds, in so many ways he has no choice but to be in opposition or to be different from He Who Remains," he says. The quote teases a very different iteration of Kang the Conqueror on the way. He Who Remains is an over-the-top Willy Wonka-like puppeteer for the TVA in Loki, but he also has empathy. He understands that someone more ruthless and tyrannical is going to fill the void after him.
