Watch Beyoncé’s Absolutely Stunning New Video for ‘Spirit’

The Lion King is out in Australian cinemas today, and coinciding with it is the music video for a new Beyoncé song from the soundtrack, ‘Spirit’. The singer shared the track last week, announcing it as part of The Gift, an accompanying album of music curated and produced by Beyoncé herself, inspired by the film.

Bey voices Nala in the remake of the animated 1994 film of the same name, starring alongside the likes of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and Alfre Woodard.

The video for ‘Spirit’ shows Queen B and an assortment of backup dancers in stunning natural backdrops, with sprawling deserts and waterfalls cut with scenes taken from the new film. It’s a pretty breathtaking series of visuals, and the choreography is as impressive as you’d expect from a Beyoncé project.

Talking in an exclusive interview with ABC America, the singer said the music video’s concept was “to show how God is the painter and natural beauty and nature needs no art direction. It’s the beauty of color, the beauty of melanin, the beauty of tradition.”

Watch the video for ‘Spirit’ below.
