Drunk Harley Bennell asked to leave hotel

On his last legs? Harley Bennell.

It looks like Harley Bennell celebrated the festive season a little too hard, with the Fremantle midfielder asked to leave a Cottesloe pub on Sunday night for being too drunk.

The Dockers have confirmed Bennell was asked to leave the Ocean Beach Hotel premises, and that the 26-year-old complied with the request.

Bennell is on his last chance at the Dockers following a string of off-field incidents.

In April 2017, Bennell was asked to leave a Virgin Australia flight from Melbourne to the Gold Coast – an incident also related to alcohol.

At the time, Dockers' general manager of football operations, Chris Bond, said the club was disappointed with with Bennell, but would continue to support the player.

Sunday's episode may not be enough to prompt a response from the Dockers, given no laws were broken and the incident wasn't serious.

Bennell has played just two AFL games over three seasons at the Dockers, and was considered lucky to earn a one-year contract extension at the end of 2018.

The former Gold Coast midfielder is yet to find a cure to his ongoing calf issues, and 2019 looms as a make-or-break year for him.
