Tim Sherwood aims dig at Tottenham fans’ fickle nature

Tottenham Hotspur have arguably the Premier League’s best striker amongst their ranks.

Ex-Spurs boss Tim Sherwood was a guest on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme on Sunday April 23rd, and discussed his former club’s star striker Harry Kane, highlighting how he has not always been popular with the White Hart Lane faithful.

The 23-year-old England international has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions thus far, and has once again proven himself to be one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers.

The England international is arguably the most popular Spurs player amongst the fans, and the ‘one of our own’ song has become synonymous with him.

However, Sherwood, who spent five months in charge of the North London outfit, told Goals on Sunday how there was a time when the Spurs fans were not so supportive Kane:

“I laugh now when I hear Tottenham fans say ‘he’s one of our own’. He wasn’t always one of their own because if [Soldado was] sitting on the bench, if Harry hadn’t scored after half an hour then they would be singing for Soldado to come on the pitch. But now he’s one of our own. Brilliant. Fantastic and he is one of their own.”

Kane has now scored 90 goals in 159 appearances for the Lilywhites, and their future chances of success will depend heavily on their ability to keep hold of him.

And if the 23-year-old does remain with Tottenham for his entire career, he will most certainly go down in history as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
