Lauren Conrad is finally dishing on the reality behind her iconic crying scene in “The Hills.”
The former reality star has been sharing many truth bombs ahead of the 10-year anniversary special of the hit MTV show and the latest one is one fans have long been waiting for.
While the “Laguna Beach” spin-off featured many tearful Conrad moments, one emotional moment in Season 4 became legendary because of Conrad’s single black tear.
“I don’t think it was the mascara. I think it was the eyeliner that was running. I still wear the same mascara, and it doesn’t run like that,” she told MTV News.
Since the show went off the air in 2010, the memorable tear has lived on via GIFs and memes online.
The 30-year-old also told US Weekly that the makeup malfunction was slowed down in production to increase “dramatic effect.”
The one-tear incident was caused when castmate Lo Bosworth moved in and caused drama with her and bestie Audrina Patridge.
While reflecting on how “very normal” it was for to break down on screen, Conrad told MTV News she now “rarely” cries.
The anniversary special, “The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now,” will premiere on Aug 2. and Conrad teased she will reveal the truth behind many scripted scenes.
“Confrontation was — I don’t want to say ‘forced’ — but ‘encouraged,'” she explained in a sneak peek.
“Typically if you have a fight with your friend, you don’t pick up your phone for a few weeks. But when you have a scene scheduled with them two days later, you kind of have to talk about it,” she added.
