PRS 7-String Multi-scale

In Guitars by jtkung

Usually I don’t post guitars which have a lot of bling, but I thought I would make an exception here mainly because:

  • This is PRS’s first multi-scale guitar, 24.75 to 25.5″ (very mild)
  • It’s a 7-string with stainless steel frets
  • Bareknuckle Aftermath pickups with Hipshot bridge
  • Has a color (Rainforest) and figuration (Burl Maple) that are hard not to notice (I am not immune to bling!)

You don’t see PRS put out multi-scale guitars or even ones with stainless steel frets, so this definitely pushed them out of their comfort zone.  But of course, for the right amount of $$, they will do anything.

It is nice to see PRS bring out a multi-scale guitar, and hopefully it’s been programmed on the CNC so that this option is available without a huge upcharge.  Multi-scale makes a lot of sense for 7-strings and up. Some luthiers even do it for 6-string (Sankey and Ormsby) with success.

The guitar is available for sale as of September 5, 2017 at https://www.digimart.net/cat01/shop3800/DS04119315/

Price is 2,160,000 yen which is about $19,800 USD. Probably not the most expensive Private Stock PRS, but I bet it’s close.
