Picasso was a genius and some of this is captured by his elegant demonstration of the bulls where he started off with a complex bull and stripped it down to a simple yet powerfully effective line diagram. Apple is known to use this approach to drive the iterative change and evolution in its product design with emphasis on making them simple, reliable but effective when it comes to overall performance.
NHS could do well to use a similar approach when it comes to planning service delivery, transformation, innovation and standardising operational procedures. Far too often we have processes that are multi-layered, duplicitous, unwieldy, complex and on balance 'ineffective, inefficient or both'.
