In June we shared a review of four VIP Tin Sign Rewards – each featuring an image based on a popular LEGO theme. Spoiler alert: we were not very impressed. But now LEGO has followed up with a sixth entry into the tin sign collection – LEGO VIP 5007159 LEGO Logo Tin Sign. Available one-per-VIP-account in the Rewards Center (US | CAN | UK), this tin can be yours for 1,200 points. (It has a listed retail value of $15 US) Need more details? Well, we ordered one, and you can take a closer look after the jump!
Unsleeving (I’ve decided that’s a word.)
This sign comes in a yellow paper sleeve with the current LEGO logo front and center with a small “Tin Sign” label in white along the bottom edge. Like the other tins in the series, it measures 12″x6″ (about 30.5 x 15.2 cm).
The back has the LEGO and VIP logos.
The sign is protected by a thin sheet of tissue paper. This does a good job of protecting the tin from scratches in transit. However, it doesn’t protect from other sorts of damage, as you’ll soon see.
The Tins
Cashing in 1200 points for another tin sign was a hard sell, particularly after the poor reception the last four had in my household. But in for a penny, in for a pound. And at this point I figured I might as well have the full set. Things started out on the wrong foot immediately, though. The sign arrived with a huge dent in it. Of course, I contacted LEGO customer service to see if I could get this replaced – only to be told they couldn’t send a replacement since these are one-per-account. The refunded my points, but if I decide I want a undamaged set, I’m going to have to find another one of these on the aftermarket. Not exactly ideal.
On the plus side, the printed covering didn’t crack, and other than the dents it looks…okay? Super plain and minimal, but…okay.
On the back you can see the multiple impact points. Also note the complete absence of any mounting points. So in other words: exactly like the other tin signs.
Along the bottom edge is the expected copyright/maker info. Made in Dongguan, China, it was produced by RDP Ltd., a marketing agency in the UK. They are also responsible for the VIP coins.
On display
This time I couldn’t use my usual flat-thumbtack hanging strategy – the dents were enough to keep it from lying flat against the wall. So I asked my spouse for some blue-tack. That worked a lot better than the tacks, anyway. The growing collection (hopefully the now-complete-collection) does offer some variety and visual interest, even if the 1950’s logo tin is still the coolest of the bunch. (It’s hung up over the Town Modular buildings on the left.)
Conclusion and recommendation
So. Did this entry convince me that these tin signs are worth 1.200 VIP points each? Nope. Way too expensive for what you get, and heaven help you if you want a mint copy. I stand by the comment I made in the last review: They’re small, not particularly well illustrated, difficult to hang, and really not something the mainstream LEGO collector is going to need to add to their collection. Save your points and either get a discount or pick a better perk like the logo keychain.
LEGO VIP 5007159 LEGO Logo Tin Sign is available now in the VIP Rewards Center (US | CAN | UK). Currently limited to one per VIP account.

I used some of my points to get one a few weeks ago, but still have the code sitting in my inbox (I didn’t realize you had to order something in order for them to ship it). Can the points be refunded? I’m not super interested in the sign now that I’ve seen the review.
Bring it to an automotive body shop and they can pound those dents right out. Or, beat it up more and put it outside for a while and make your own antique sign.
@Nate – I’d suggest emailing LEGO Customer service directly. They might be able to cancel/refund. The customer support folks are really great, and do what they can to help.
This one is so plain and simple. You basically pay lego to have their logo on display, just plain absurd to me.
