Apparently, Kristen Stewart's platinum blonde buzz cut didn't exactly conjure images of Coco Chanel for the brand. So for the iconic fashion house's new campaign for its "Gabrielle Chanel" fragrance — which pays homage to Coco's birth name — Stewart goes back to her luscious brunette roots, looking especially fierce in a tousled pixie cut.

Chanel released the first image from the campaign on Wednesday and in the stunning closeup shot, K-Stew is shown in profile, staring determinedly ahead, wearing nothing but her pre-buzz locks, bright hazel eyes, and dewy, natural makeup. According to a press release, the glowing photo was shot by photographer Karim Sadli. "The new CHANEL fragrance named Gabrielle celebrates the extraordinary personality of its founder and conveys a very modern message inviting all young women today to live freely, by and for themselves," the release says. "Talented actress Kristen Stewart immediately came to mind as the obvious choice to incarnate this courageous, valiant, bold, and impassioned femininity."

The Twilight actress will also reportedly star in a video campaign for the fragrance, which was previously described by Chanel as "abstract floral," later this year. The short film, which was shot by Ringan Ledwidge, features the 27-year-old channeling the "rebellious spirit" Gabrielle had before finding her stride as Coco. "She was trying to do things people didn't necessarily view as beautiful, but she said, 'Look at things differently,'" Stewart said of the Chanel founder, whom she previously portrayed in a 1920s-set short film for a late 2015 Chanel campaign. According to the Chanel site, Gabrielle Chanel will be available for purchase this Saturday, August 19, and will cost $135 for a 3.4-oz. bottle.

Stewart was announced as the face of the new perfume — the brand's first standalone fragrance in 15 years — in May, according to WWD. She's been a Chanel ambassador since 2013 and was named the company's face of makeup in February 2016. Most recently, she starred alongside Pharrell Williams, Cara Delevingne, and Caroline de Maigret in the campaign for Chanel's Gabrielle bag, the brand's first permanent addition to its handbag collection since 2010's "Boy."
