Dozens of financial services firms would be named and shamed for filing late tax returns under a Senate order seeking to force the Australian Taxation Office to drop its resistance and release the secret list.
Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick is leading the charge to publicly reveal the names of the foreign banks, insurers and superannuation companies who have filed their tax returns more than six months late or not filed at all.
