One Bahia was the perfect spot for our long weekend. The location is prime with everything you could need was at your doorstep or within walking distance. It's so beautiful to be surrounded by mountains on one side, and the ocean on the other. The amenities available at One Bahia are also very convenient. I didn't even have to go to the cafe for my morning coffee as the owners thoughtfully provided this, as well as the luxury of netflix. This has been my second visit and no doubt will have many more in the future!

Shoal Bay is one of Australia’s best beach destinations so it’s easy to understand why it’s such a popular holiday spot – just two and a half hours from Sydney. Pack your beach umbrella, towels and inflatables and walk the 6 minutes down to Shoal Bay beach. If you're like me and want to add a little more adventure into your beach days, you can hire a paddleboard or kayak. You can even make your way over to d'Albora Marina in Nelson Bay and get a little more boujee and hire a catamaran or fishing boat. Dolphins and whales are regularly spotted throughout the Bay so always keep a look out.

It is so easy to get lost and wander the surrounding bays and beaches, all within 5-10 minutes of each other. Nelsons Bay, Fingal Bay, Anna Bay, Salamander Bay, Fishermans Bay, Boat Harbour, Tanilba Bay and those are just to name a few. Each Bay has its own unique feel and touch and are filled with pristine beaches and delicious restaurants to stop for lunch or dinner.

At the easternmost edge of the bay is Tomaree Head (168 m). There is a car park and picnic area at the base of Tomaree Head. Opposite the car park is the start of a walking track to the summit where the views are breathtaking. A must do when visiting Shoal Bay.

I have curated a list of things to do and places to eat, each spot we have personally visited, experienced and recommend ourselves.

THINGS TO DO

Take the invigorating short walk to the summit of Tomaree Head, 161m above the Port Stephens entrance.
