Summary

This bucket basket by Leanne Guymala was created using an open coil and plait technique, with dyed and undyed pandanus creating a horizontal pattern. The flat handle is twined with open zig-zag stich of dyed pandanus and undyed pandanus attached in the middle of the bag on opposite sides.

Leanne Guymala is one of four sisters, all daughters of the artist Spider Namirrki and all well-established fibre artists. Leanne's mother was Molly Naborhlborhl. She makes a variety of coiled forms and experiments with combinations of techniques.
