Visitors to the Cincinnati Zoo could soon get the chance to meet the new hippo calf, Fritz.

Fritz checked out Hippo Cove again early on Thursday with mom, Bibi.

Frtiz is weighing in at nearly 120 pounds. He was about 80 pounds just two weeks ago. He's been gaining two to three pounds a day. Cincinnati Zoo’s director of animal care Christina Gorsuch calls him a little tank.

Fritz has seen Fiona from across the hippo barn. Bibi has been keeping a close eye on Fritz but Gorsuch said the siblings may meet early next week. She said Bibi will let keepers know if it's okay.

Later, Fritz will meet dad, Tucker.

Gorsuch said Fritz is spunky, has a lot of energy, and seems to love the keepers, just like sister Fiona did.

The whole family is expected to stay at the Cincinnati Zoo for a few years but as Fritz gets bigger, Gorsuch said he'll move to another zoo.
