Open sign-up to Gmail in AU/NZ

Gmail is now generally available in Australia and New Zealand. From today, users in Australia and New Zealand will be able to go to www.gmail.com and create a free account, without an invitation or signing up through Google SMS. Gmail remains otherwise unchanged – offering over 2.7GB of free space, built-in Google search technology, great spam protection and a fast and innovative user experience.

Since launching Gmail, we have focused on offering a reliable service to more and more users around the world, while minimizing spam and abuse. Our users' feedback has helped us in these efforts, and now we're broadening the availability of Gmail in Australia and New Zealand.

We are excited to make it easier for users in Australia and New Zealand to obtain Gmail accounts, and look forward to offering Gmail more broadly in more places as soon as we are able.
