Description

Preparation for maintenance of oral cavity hygiene and prevention of plaque formation
The subject of the invention is compound preparation for maintenance of the oral cavity hygiene and prevention of plaque formation which contains ingredients obtained from seeds of Synapsis alba (white mustard).
Dental caries and periodontal diseases are associated with activity of bacteria in the oral cavity. These bacteria are an element of dental plaque which in a process of mineralization is transformed in supragingival and sub-gingival calculus. Improper hygiene of the oral cavity, diet and susceptibility of dental hard tissues lead to dental caries. At the same time, microbes which are present in dental plaque are the most important etiological agents of periodontitis. Insufficient hygiene and tissue susceptibility may lead to gingivitis and periodontitis. When untreated, gingivitis may lead to formation of pathological pockets, destruction of connective tissue adhesion as well as to lysis of the alveolar ridge and in consequence to loss of teeth.
It is commonly known that the preparations for oral cavity hygiene may include antibacterial agents. They inhibit development of bacteria in the oral cavity. For example, use of enzymes which prevent deposition of dental plaque by reduction of bacterial adhesion to teeth surface has been described in US 2 527 686, US3 991 177, US3 194 738, US4 082 841, US4 115 546, US4 140 759, i US5 849 271patent descriptions. It is also beneficial to add plant extracts of antibacterial and/or antifungal properties. Toothpastes with chamomile, salvia, mint or clove extracts are also commonly known.
For example WO0103662A1 describes a preparation for oral cavity hygiene with clove extract which prevents gum diseases and bad breath (halitosis). US20090054520A1 reveals composition of the product for dental care which includes chamomile extract.
The goal of the invention has been development of the preparation in a form of tooth paste based on active substance of herbal origin which shows definite antibacterial and antifungal effect on the oral cavity, in particular tooth and gums.
The product for maintenance of oral cavity hygiene and prevention of plaque deposition, according to the formula, contains from 0.1 to 0.8% of sinablin and its derivatives in a beneficial form of mustard oil, 0.1 to 0.8% or from 0.1 to 8% of mustard extract and/or 0.1 to 0.8% of mustard marc. Besides, the composition contains from 10.0 to 50.0% of hydrated sodium biphosphate and/or from 10.0 to 50.0% of hydrated bicalcium phosphate and/or 10.04 - 40.0% of hydrated silica and/or 0.1 to 8.0% of colloidal silica and/or 5.0 to 50% of glycerin and water to 100%. The product contains from 1.0 to 5.0% of carboxymethyl cellulose and/or from 0.2 to 6.0% of sodium lauryl sulfate which is beneficial. Composition of the preparation also includes from 30.0 to 70.0% of sorbitol and/or 0.2 to 0.5 of sodium saccharine and/or 0.5- 2.0% of titanium bicarbonate. The product contains from 0.05 to 0.8% preservative paraben such as sodium methylparaben and/or from 0.5 to 0.8% of sodium benzoate. Additionally, the composition contains from 0.5% to 3.0% of known aromatic substances. Sinablin and its derivatives are obtained in extraction of powdered mustard seed with ethanol, extraction of mustard oil which is performed with commonly applied methods, addition of white mustard marc and powdered whole seeds.
It is also acceptable to use oil from white mustard which is obtained as a waste in mustard production (from marcs).
According to description of the patent, the toothpaste has a delicate, herbal flavor and shows antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Below, we provide examples of preparation
Example I
The preparation in a form of toothpaste contains 1% of mustard extract, 37% of hydrated sodium biphosphate, 3% of colloidal silica, 26% of glycerine, 1.2% of carboxym ethyl cellulose, 1.1% of sodium lauryl sulfate, 0.1% of sodium methylparaben, 0.2% of sodium benzoate and water to 100%
Example II
The preparation in a form of toothpaste contains 1.0% of mustard marc, 36% of hydrated sodium biphosphate, 3.0% of colloidal silica, 27% of glycerine, 1.2% of carboxymethylo cellulose, 1.2% of sodium lauryl sulfate, 0.1% of sodium methylparaben, 0.2% of sodium benzoate and water to 100%
Example III
The preparation in a form of toothpaste contains 1.0% of mustard oil, 30% of hydrated silica, 25% of glycerine, 1.2% of carboxymethylo cellulose, 2% of sodium lauryl sulfate, 30% of sorbitol, 2% of cellulose gum, 1% of titanium bicarbonate, 0.2% of sodium saccharine and water to 100%.
