Abstract
The invention relates to a charging device for an electric vehicle having the features of the preamble of the main claim, and to an adapter having the features of the first claim. A further coordinate claim relates to an electric vehicle comprising the charging device. The invention provides a charging device for an electric vehicle having a charging cable comprising an electrical plug connector, the electrical plug connector comprising electrical alternating-current contacts for charging with alternating current and also comprising electrical direct-current contacts for charging with direct current. The charging device also has at least one adapter for connecting the electrical alternating-current contacts to a plug socket for alternating current. The adapter can therefore be connected both to the alternating-current contacts of the charging device and to alternating-current contacts of a domestic plug socket. Owing to the adapter, it is possible to charge a motor vehicle throughout the world from any desired domestic plug socket, specifically independently of the design of the alternating-current contacts of the charging device.
