Abstract
The invention concerns a method and devices for the cryopreservation of a biological sample (1), which comprises biological cells and a preservation medium, it being possible for different temperature and pressure time functions to be implemented. The device (100) comprises a pressure vessel (10) which is arranged for accommodating the biological sample and can be acted upon by a pressure which is higher than the ambient atmospheric pressure. To that end, the pressure vessel comprises at least one pressure-adjusting element in the form of a pressure screw (21), expansion region or pressure clamp. The pressure vessel is arranged to be immersed in a fluid bath of a cooling device. Methods are also described for vitality-maintaining warming of the biological sample. At least one stabilizer substance (e.g. ethylene glycol, Ficoll, Percoll) can be provided as component of the preservation medium, which is suitable for maintaining a vitreous phase when the temperature of the biological sample is increased until transition to a fluid state.
