Abstract

In order to plan the operation of a range extender in a vehicle having an electric drive on a planned route, the speed profile on said route is predicted and with respect to the speed profile the maximum possible electrical power which can be output by the internal combustion engine is determined and simultaneously the electrical power to be output by the electric drive is determined. From the output of the internal combustion engine and the electric power of the drive a parameter can be formed, the time profile of which serves for definition of time intervals in which the range extender is operated.
