Description

AN AUTOMATED MULTI-POINT TRACKING SYSTEM
Field of the Invention:
This invention relates to the field of electronics and telecommunication. Particularly, this invention relates to an automated multi-point tracking system. Background of the Invention:
Tracking, essentially relates to locating the whereabouts of a person / item within any predefined space. The pre-definition of the space is imperative to the mechanism deployed for tracking. E.g. if the pre-defined space is the entire Earth or a country, satellites may be employed for tracking. If the pre-defined space is substantially smaller, a mere human search may suffice the need. Ideally, tracking also refers to maintaining a time-based list of events / location of the tracked person / item, which establishes a trail of events. This trail of events can be evidently established by logging of the location of the tracked person / item over a time span, with logs at discrete time intervals. The discrete time interval log can be put together to define the continuum of movement of the person / item from one place to another in the pre-defined space.
Manual logging of location by a person (so that a tracker may be able to authentically track the person) is a cumbersome procedure, and includes plenty of loopholes in relation to its authenticity. Hence, there is a need for an automated system for tracking.
In the evolution of humankind and in their development of socially relevant anthropological needs, humans have devised environments which serve as centres of grouping. These grouping centres may be educational institutes for children, working centres for humans, and the like. It is thus natural that persons from various locations assemble at such places. The process of assembling involves movement, and a continuous tracking mechanism during this phase of movement is a likeable desire for many.
Referring to a scenario relating to a school environment, the concept of 'tracking' involves phases and location inside and outside the school campus. The first step involves garnering knowledge of schedules of bus timings which transport a group of students from their respective stops to a school. In the current traffic scenario and traffic snarls, there may be inadvertent delays. These delays not only reflect directly onto a school going kid's arrival or departure timings but also cascades onto his / her parents' / guardians' schedule (assuming that they drop off the kid to the stop). Monitoring, then, begins from the entry point of the bus. There is a need for this first level of monitoring. A second level of monitoring is needed as soon as the kid (within the bus or without the bus) enters the school premises. A third level of monitoring is needed as the kid exits the bus in the school campus or outside the school campus. A fourth level of monitoring is needed at multiple in-school premises such as the school classroom or even for other rooms. There is a need for a seamless, end-to-end monitoring and tracking system. Not only is physical monitoring an important criterion, but information monitoring is also important. In order to shift the burden of information transmission from a school to a parent or a guardian via a school going kid, it is important that that there is a direct, yet non-intrusive communication link between the parent / guardian and representatives of the school.
There is also a need for an on-demand information retrieval system in relation to the monitoring and tracking of a school kid along with ongoing curriculum, notices, examination information, instructions, reports, and the like. A plurality of electronic platforms are available for communication in today's markets. Hence, there is a need to create an integrated platform with seamless multimodal communication channels for all such envisageable platforms.
Hence, there is also a need for a system with multi-point tracking capability for a defined environment.

According to this invention, there is provided a system (100), for multipoint tracking, typically adapted for tracking people within a 'defined environment'. For the purposes of this specification, a 'defined environment' may not be limited to its geographical perimeters, but is adapted to include the sequence of events leading from a pre-defined point to another pre-defined point, therefore including a group of geographical perimeters and their interconnection and coordination, therebetween. Although this specification may specifically describe or relate to a 'school environment', such description is exemplary only and the system of this invention can be applied to or modified to be used in other 'defined environments' such as a company or an industry or a bus service or the like without departing from the spirit and the claims of this invention.
Figure 1 illustrates a schematic of the system (100) of this invention. Figure 2 illustrates a schematic of the tracker and notification system for bus transportation. Figure 3 illustrates a multimodal communication platform of the system. Figure 4 illustrates an attendance system of the system in relation to biometric identification. Figure 5 illustrates a graphical user interface and geo-fencing means for transportation tracking according to the system.
In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, there is provided a primary tracker device (10) adapted to be carried by a person or tagged onto an object that is to be tracked. The said primary tracker device (10) is a signal transmitting-receiving device adapted to transmit-receive encoded signals. In one embodiment, this transmission is in a continuous fashion. In another embodiment, this transmission may be in a discontinuous fashion or in a periodic manner. Each primary tracker device (10) includes a specific encoded signal transmitting-receiving mechanism which is unique, and identifies itself with the person or the object that is to be tracked, with its unique primary identity. In other words, each primary tracker device (10) transmits-receives a unique signal. E.g. a Person carrying a primary tracker device (10) will necessarily at all times transmit the same kind of signal from the same device. Thus, the location of each person / object can be uniquely identified according to the unique signal that is being transmitted / read. Typically, the primary tracker device (10) may be one selected from a passive tracker device, an active tracker device, a smart tracker device, battery assisted passive device, or a combination thereof.
In accordance with yet another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a reader means (20) adapted to receive said encoded transmitted signals from said tracker means (for example, the primary tracking device 10). The reader means (20) may include a data storage means (30) adapted to store a receipt of a transmitted signal as a record, along with a time-stamp and / or a date stamp. Typically, the reader means (20) is adapted to transmit a record of the read encoded transmitted signal by means of a wired / wireless communication means. The presence of a data storage means (30) ensures that, in the event of a lack of connectivity, the record may be stored within the data storage means (30) and then can be transmitted at a later time when the connectivity is established. In one embodiment, the reader means (20) may be located at one port of entry. In an alternate embodiment, the reader means (20) may be located at multiple ports of entry. Each port of entry, is thus guarded by the reader means (20) with a pre-defined perimeter of strength to read incoming / outgoing / peripheral primary tracker devices (10). The reader means is adapted to read encoded transmitted signals from said tracker means in a continuous manner with pre-defined refresh rates. This may cause duplication of data. Hence, deduplication of data i.e. deduplication of tracker means will have to be carried out, in order to provide a succinct and precise summary of logs. The port of entry may be in a campus or in a building or in a room or in a transport vehicle.
In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, there is provided an automated attendance marking system adapted to mark an attendance of the student in a seamless continuous manner. As the primary tracker device (10) records itself through the reader means (20), an automatic attendance (with date stamp and time stamp) is marked. Since multiple reader means (20) are provided at multiple locations, seamless continuous attendance may be marked whilst the student travels from one premises to another; e.g. an attendance in bus to an attendance in a school premises to an attendance in a school classroom. In accordance with yet another additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a correction means (68) adapted to mark a correct attendance and avoid false positives and false negatives. In circumstances wherein a bus reaches late, but a student has already boarded the bus, the student's delayed signal reading at the entry port of the school premises should not be construed as a late or absent mark in the attendance records. Hence, a comparator means is provided in the correction means which compares the attendance date-stamp and time-stamp on the bus with the attendance date-stamp and time-stamp in school. If the attendance date-stamp and time-stamp on the bus is valid / present, the attendance date-stamp and time-stamp in the adjunct school cannot be invalid (late or absent), unless there is an exit record of the student (primary tracker device) as read by the bus reader means. There is provided an attendance positive marking means adapted to mark a positive attendance if said date-stamp and time-stamp from a first reader means precedes said date-stamp and time-stamp from a second reader means.
In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, there is provided an updateable database means (25) adapted to be coupled with each of said reader means (20). This updateable database means includes a list of students that are intended to be read by that particular reader along with additional information, if necessary, e.g. For a particular bus on a particular route, a database of students intended to travel is updated in the database. Or in a particular class, the list of students taking the class or allowed to enter the class is updated on to the database means. Preferably, their associated contacts and other information such as payment of fees (said additional information) and the like shall be included in the database. The reader means is enabled to fetch this data at pre-defined intervals; either pushed through the central server or pulled from the central server. Rules regarding updates may be defined by an administrator.
In accordance with still another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a global transmission-reception means (40, 41) containing multiple aspects. Preferably, one aspect is depicted by reference numeral 40 in the accompanying drawings, and the second aspect is depicted by reference numeral 41 in the accompanying drawings. The global transmission- reception means (40, 41) is adapted to pick up signals from a (any of) first location(s) and transmit said picked-up signal to a remote second location. Reference numeral 40 of the global transmission-reception means refers to a satellite means which transmits signals to a receiver, for computation of co-ordinates for locating purposes. Reference numeral 41 refers to a network of communication towers along with a communication channel for both transmission and reception purposes; simultaneously.
In one example, the said remote second location is at a substantially large distance from the global transmission-reception means (40), so as not to be covered by a local network such as a LAN or a Wi-Fi Network. In another example, the said remote second location may be at any distance from the global transmission-reception means. For this embodiment, said global transmission-reception means (40) is a Global Positioning System - viz. a system of satellites. In the system of satellites, the global transmission-reception means is adapted merely to transmit a time stamp, for determining a location, of the tracked item, by means of computations in relation to the time taken for the signal to travel. Alternatively, the global transmission-reception means may be a system of communication towers, typically used for radio or mobile or television services.
In accordance with yet another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a central server (50) adapted to receive said transmitted and recorded signals from said reader means and transmit them to said global transmission-reception means (40). This information relates to primary tracker device (10). Additionally, the central server (50) also receives data from said secondary tracker device (120). Each unique secondary information is in correlation with associated unique primary identity as collated by a first collating means, thereby providing collated relative information along with location to the central server (50). The central server (50) includes a rules engine (60) adapted to create rules for creating an information message related to tracking. The rules engine along with a second collating means is adapted to identify each of the records, to pinpoint the user of any tracker device, store the record in relation to the identity of said tracker device (i.e. the name of the user of the tracker device), and process the record in relation to created rules in accordance with pre-defined instructions to collate / create an information message, specific to each of said records of each of said tracking device (and thus, said user). The central server (50) further includes a transmission system (70) adapted to send the information via a communication network to pre-configured recipients (82, 84, 86). The pre-configured recipients (82, 84, 86) may choose to receive the information onto a variety of electronic platforms of choice, typically a mobile phone (via SMS, voice message, multimedia message or the like), e-mail or any web-based facility, web browser, smart phone, PDA, paging system or the like method. The central server (50) may also include a querying mechanism (90) adapted to receive queries based on said stored information, data, and records. The queries may typically be raised by parents / guardians / teacher / administrator / student / principal / authorised personnel. The querying mechanism (90), typically, includes a keyword recognition means (100) adapted to filter keywords from a message, and further includes a processing means to formulate a combination of queries, select a best query, and formulate a specific answer based on stored information and records, for transmission. The central server (50) serves as a central console for transmitting information to multiple platforms. Also, the central server (50) assigns the same information to specific recipients on their chosen platforms in an intelligent manner. The central server (50) still further includes an instruction receiving means (110) adapted to receive instructions from a variety of electronic platforms (112, 114, 116). Typically, said electronic platform (1 12, 1 14, 116) is a mobile phone, an e-mail client, a web browser, an IYRS based phone system, a social networking site, a PDA, a smart-phone, a messaging (SMS, MMS) means, paging means or the like. The instruction receiving means is typically a rules engine. Rules relating to transmission of information may be tweaked by guardians or parents or administrators. These rules may be in relation the choice of electronic platform or choice of time duration for transmission of information or a combination of both.
The central server (50) may include auxiliary databases for storing auxiliary information. This auxiliary information may be exemplarily defined in a non-limiting manner as blood group of a student which is being tracked, allergies or medical history of the student being tracked, alternative contact information and the like.
There is also provided an online interface for various persons using the system, said interface including related information for each person. E.g. a teacher's online interface may include curriculum details, special notes, tasks, and the like. A principal's interface may include all teachers' master curriculum details, student data, and additional data. A student's online interface may include period-wise / subject-wise data, notes from the teacher, additional notices from the teacher and the like. There may be additional personalized online interfaces for other users of the system such as for parents, administrative staff, and other non-teaching staff.
It is to be understood that the central server (50) may be a bank of servers with each server being defined for specific use, and the central server includes databases and processing means with computational prowess along with input mechanisms and output mechanisms.
In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, there is a multimodal communication platform (115) adapted to interface a variety of said electronic platforms (112, 114, 116, 82, 84, 86) on a common thread, thereby providing a communication channel between any two platforms. This provides a single point for distribution of information / queries in a one-to-one or in a one-to-many format. Thus, an incoming query from a parent through a cell phone may be routed to the central server (50). An outgoing message from a teacher's mobile phone may be routed, through the central server (50), to different electronic platforms of choice of the parent / guardian i.e. on their cell phone or their e-mail client or the like depending upon their preset rule setting. The teacher or the administrative authority needs only to send the message in a predefined format readable and decipherable by the multimodal communication platform and central server which then routes it to a single or a plurality of correct electronic platforms.
In accordance with still another embodiment of this invention, there is provided a secondary tracker device (120) which is in direct communication with said global transmission-reception means (40) adapted to relay its position to said central server (50) at pre-defined time intervals or in a continuous fashion. The secondary tracker device (120) may include a data storage means (130) adapted to store a receipt of a transmitted / received signal as a record, along with a time- stamp and / or a date stamp. It may store data relating to speed and direction of travel. Typically, the secondary tracker device (120) is adapted to transmit a record of the read encoded transmitted signal. The presence of a data storage means (130) ensures that, in the event of a lack of connectivity, the record may be stored within the data storage means (310) and then can be transmitted at a later time when the connectivity is established. The secondary tracker device (120) includes a receiver means which is adapted to receive a query / prompt from a central server (50). In response to receiving the said query, the secondary tracker device (120) transmits a signal (location co-ordinates' information) to said global transmission-reception means (40) in order to determine its location.
In a moving vehicle such as a transport button, an SOS button is provided with the secondary tracker (125) device, said SOS button includes predefined functions in accordance with the rules set by the rules engine of the central server (50) and the processing means of the central server (50) in order to process and transmit information messages to intended persons.
A secondary tracker devices (120), for the purposes of this invention, may be one selected from a group of security tracker devices consisting of a GPS+GSM/GPRS+R ID enabled tracker device, a GPS+GPRS/GSM enabled tracker device, a RFID+GSM+GPRS enabled tracker device, and a combination thereof. These tracker devices, ensures ubiquitous uninterrupted connectivity of transmission and reception of signal from the tracker device to the global transmission-reception means, for precise and fail proof tracking. Specifically, the combination may relate to engaging only the GPS+GSM/GPRS+RFID enabled tracker device, or only the GPS+GPRS/GSM enabled tracker device or both GPS+GPRS/GSM enabled tracker device and RFID+GSM+GPRS enabled tracker device together. The GSM module may be replaced by CDMA/PSTN/LTE or the like.
Typically, said rules engine (60) of said central server (50) may be engaged to define time-spans, within which certain information needs to be recorded. In the event that the information, is not recorded within said time-span, the central server (50) is adapted to query any of the tracker devices (10, 120), for transmission of signals. Further, the central server (50) is adapted to relay the information sought by such a query to intended recipients (82, 84, 86) as defined by the rules engine (60).
Alternatively, the central server (50) may include a split-level, hierarchically defined configuration of servers, with each sub-level server acting as a console for a defined purpose, and such sub-level servers agglomerating together to report to a superior server, thus establishing a hierarchy. According to an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a graphical user interface (135) which provides a graphical representation of the map of the area within a predefined perimeter. Rules related to tracking may be created by the rules engine (60). A geo-zone defining means defined a geo-zone by pointing an area of choice on the map which defines the co-ordinates as thresholds for intimating a user about the whereabouts of the item carrying the secondary tracker device. These geo-zones may be created. This area of choice is a geo-zone (138) which may be of preset configurations or user-defined. Typically, as continuous signals are emitted, by means of an emitting means, from said secondary tracker device, co-ordinates, of its location, in terms of latitude and longitude or geographical destination names may be sent to said central server (50). The central server (50) compares, by means of a comparing means, the location received with the intended location of interest of a user (created due to the definition of area by said user) and then decides whether to transmit what information. As the secondary tracking device (120), and hence the item carryingthe secondary tracking device (120), enters the pre-defined perimeter a message may be sent to the user on any of the electronic platforms of interest. Further, rules relating to direction of travel may be created for ideal notification purposed. The direction rules are in relation to tracking which geo-zone the secondary tracker has exited and which geo-zone the secondary tracker has entered. By determining this sequence of entry and exit of geo-zones, the direction of travel can be established by means of a direction determining means; especially if the bus housing the secondary tracker travels on the same route up and down (at different times) to avoid false alarms. These tracking of sequence of geo-zone entry and exit may be coupled with scheduled times with pre-determined tolerances in order to still accurately schedule notifications to the parent / guardian. Rules in relation to time-based messages or direction-based messages may be set in the rules engine. Thus, for a bidirectional route, a parent / guardian may choose for the student to board a bus / alight from a bus when it is traveling in one direction of the bidirectional route and may choose for the student to board a bus / alight from a bus when it is traveling in another direction of the bidirectional route. Messages of the location of the secondary tracker device and hence the bus will only be sent in accordance with the rules without duplication or false alarms. According to one exemplary embodiment, rules may be defined to receive tracking messages only when a student has not reached a predefined destination which will constitute a negative message. All affirmative messages of tracking will be avoided in this exemplary embodiment. In accordance with another embodiment of this invention, said primary tracker device (10) may include a memory means adapted to store additional content. Typically, said additional content may be electronic cash. A user may deposit physical cash at a predefined location, and swipe the amount of the deposited cash onto the memory means of said primary tracker device (10) to render the physical cash as electronic cash. This electronic cash may then be used at places having terminals adapted to read the data on said memory means, and write new data on to said memory means after a transaction. Thus, the primary tracker device (10) coupled with memory means serves as an electronic wallet. This updation of data can be uploaded On to the central server (50) when the primary tracker device next comes in communication with a reader means (20). This data may be stored as logs or even be sent to desired recipients.
The primary tracker device (10), typically, has four signal transmission means or four identification means. These include (a) Low Frequency signaling means; (b) High Frequency signaling means; (c) Ultra High Frequency signaling means; and (d) Bar Code means.
In accordance with an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a moderation module (150) adapted to moderate outgoing information messages. Moderation may range from a list of selected options depending upon school needs and authorization. Multiple moderations assemblies may be involved for different levels of moderation.
In accordance with yet an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a PC- independent fingerprinting device (155) adapted to identify a person based on his / her fingerprint which is pre-recorded and stored on a remote server (180). This device (155) also communicated with the central server (50) in order to receive rules or transmit records for further processing of notifications or alerts. The PC-independent fingerprinting device (155) includes a memory means (160) which includes a database of pre-recorded fingerprints with corresponding identities. It further includes a communication means (165) adapted to wirelessly communicate with the server to receive updates of databases of fingerprints and corresponding identities. The provisioning of a remote server (180) and wireless capabilities ensure that the breakdown of the fingerprinting device does not harm the data and downtime resulted due to breakdown is minimized. A common pool of data, at the server (180), of a multitude of fingerprinting devices may be located on the server. This reduces the initialisation procedure of recording the fingerprint and identity each time a breakdown occurs. Time stamping means and Date stamping means are also included. Typically, said PC-independent fingerprinting device (155) is communicably coupled with the transmission system (70) in order to transmit records on a realtime basis to various electronic platforms as defined by the rules of a corresponding auxiliary rules engine (170). E.g. a supervisor may receive alerts regarding breach of time. The auxiliary rules engine (170) may include rules relating to transmission of information based on pre-defined criterion only.
The central server (50) includes a central database of fingerprint and correlated identity records. There is provided a first updating module adapted to provide updating of records at the central server. There is provided a second updating module adapted to provide updating of records at the fingerprint identification device. The updates of records at the first updating module are transmitted to the second updating module. Similarly, the updates of records at the second updating module are transmitted (by a transmission system) to the first updating module. Thus, updating of records may independently occur at the remote central server or at the device itself.
Alternatively, there may be provided a biometric identification system adapted to identify a person based on his / her biometric parameters which is defined, pre-recorded and stored on a remote server (180). The remaining functionalities remain similar to the fingerprinting system (155) discussed above.
In accordance with still an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a record updating module (175) adapted to provision updating latest contact information for each user of the system. Information messages are regularly sent out using the system of this message to predefined electronic platforms, each electronic platform having a unique identity. People tend to change or shift their allegiances from one identity of an electronic platform to another identity of an electronic platform or from one electronic platform to another. Hence, it becomes imperative that the system be smart enough to prompt a user to change or update the records without relying on the obligation of the user to do so. The record updating module, hence includes a criticality defining means adapted to define a criticality quotient for each undelivered information message depending upon the receipt message generated by the electronic platform after the information message delivery is unsuccessful or the number of times information messages are undelivered, a combination of both, or the like. After this, an alarm is raised at the central server (50) which required human intervention for updation.
In accordance with another additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a call routing system (180) adapted to establish and route a communication channel from a parent / guardian number to a predefined number being selected from a list of numbers, said selection being carried out by a selection means (182) of the call routing system depending upon predefined parameters. There is provided a reader means and a tagged communication device. The reader means is adapted to read primary card information and associated parent / guardian contact identity information. Further, there is provided a notification means adapted to notify the associated contact identity, said notification including a pre-defined message and an associated communication device identity tagged to the reader means. Alternatively, there may be provided a communication link establishing means adapted to establish a communication link from said tagged communication device and said contact identity.
In accordance with yet another additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a global reporting means (185) adapted to report each and any of information messages originating from a plurality of options, devices, and systems to a defined authority or administrator or moderator depending upon pre-defined rules. This may also be synced with the multimodal communication platform (115) and the querying system (90) to allow querying from any electronic platform (1 12, 1 14, 116).
In accordance with an additional embodiment of this invention, there is provided a continuous video capturing and relaying mechanism in a defined space adapted to capture a video and transmit said captured video by means of an in-built communication means (real-time or offline) to a central server from where access is provided to authorised persons. The above invention will now be explained in relation to a non-limiting exemplary embodiment. The defined environment for this example is an education centre, with students travelling from their home, via a bus, to the education centre, and returning via the bus to their homes.
1) A primary tracker device (10) is placed on every student. The primary tracker device is encoded to be identified with the specific student. Thus, student A will be paired with primary tracker device A only. This information may be stored in the central server (50) as well as the reader means (20). A plurality of reader means (20) may be deployed at strategic locations to ensure tracking of the complete travel. Typically, one reader means (20) may be deployed at the bus entry / exit points. Another reader means (20) may be deployed at the school gate. Yet another reader means (20) may be deployed at the classroom entrance and so on and so forth. Thus, a trail of movement can be established in a foolproof manner.
2) Whenever a student passes by such a reader means (20), the reader means (20) will pick up the identity of the primary tracker device (10) and store the information in its data storage means (30).
3) From here, the record is transmitted to a central server (50) via a global transmission- reception means (40).
4) The central server (50) engages the rules engine (60) which processes the records and sends the records, through a transmission mechanism (70) to the intended recipient (82, 84, 86). i.e. Student A's parent will receive instantaneous information that the child has successfully reached passed each of the reader means (20) upon passing them at the intended times. The intended recipients may receive this information via a text message on their registered mobile phone numbers or through an e-mail on their registered e-mail address. This assignment of which record to send to which recipient on what platform is provided by the rules engine (60).
5) In a further embodiment, a secondary tracking device (120) is fitted at pre-defined locations. One example is a bus. The bus may, at all times, carry a secondary tracking device (120), which is adapted to communicate with said global transmission-reception means (40). The rules engine (60) may be configured to receive timely signals from the secondary tracking device within defined time intervals, failing which, the central server (50) may query the secondary tracking device (120) to relay its position. This information may be automatically sent to the intended recipient (82, 84, 86), through said transmission mechanism (70). The secondary tracking device may also be enabled with an accelerometer.
6) Still further, a user (1 12, 1 14, 1 16) may send a query / instruction via the instruction receiving means (1 10) to the querying mechanism (90) by means of a text message or an e-mail to a central server (50). This query may be, "where has A's bus reached?" The keyword recognition means (100) is adapted to read keywords such as 'where', Ά', 'reach' and relay it to the central server (50), which has received location co-ordinate information from the secondary tracker device (120); said server is further adapted to fetch and transmit the location co-ordinates via the global transmission-reception means (40). This information is relayed to the recipient (1 12, 1 14, 1 16). (In some situations, the central server (50) may query the secondary tracker device (120).
7) According to an alternate embodiment, a user (112, 1 14, 1 16) relays information to the central server, which passes on the information to recipient (82, 84, 86) via a multimodal communication platform. This includes sending of notices (information) by a principal (1 12), a teacher (114), or the like (1 16) to recipients (82, 84, 86). The recipient will typically be the guardian / parent of the student. Thus, all and any information can be passed on between a principal / teacher to a student's guardian / parent. Also, parents / guardians / recipients may communicate with the principal, teacher or the like through the multimodal communication platform.
8) The primary tracker device is also enabled in such a manner that the same can be used in multiple points of transactional locations within the education centre - like cafeteria, library, stores, etc as also outside the education centre, for shopping of items/services by the user of the primary tracker device.
Therefore, the invention as explained by the example explained above may be used by parents or guardians to track the safety of the student/kid at all times, right from knowing when the bus shall arrive— to entering and travelling via the school bus - to entering and attending school - to returning home via the school bus; all in a timely manner. Also, it is important that the parent / guardian be apprised of the happenings at school, lest the child miss out on anything important due to lack of attention. And this invention, as explained above, provides a method to achieve all these results.
According to another exemplary embodiment, this system may be used to define an automated library or any pre-defined zone such as a canteen. The reader means (20) is adapted to read the entry of a person [who is carrying a primary tracker device (10)]. This entry may be time- stamped and date-stamped. Further, each item within the pre-defined zone shall be tagged, so as to be read by the reader means (20). The person may pick up the items and walk out of the predefined zone, which is guarded by said reader means (20). The reader means (20), once again, reads the signal from the primary tracker device (10) of the person, in conjunction with the signals from the tags of the items picked by the person. Thus, a correlation between the items and the person is established, and may be communicated to the central server (50), for logging purposes. This log will hence be an automated record of items picked by a user.
It may be noted that this invention may be used to track objects / items (inanimate) in an automated manner.
While considerable emphasis has been placed herein on the particular features of the preferred embodiment and the improvisation with regards to it, it will be appreciated that various modifications can be made in the preferred embodiment without departing from the principles of the invention. These and other modifications in the nature of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein, whereby it is to be distinctly understood that the foregoing descriptive matter is to be interpreted merely as illustrative of the invention and not as a limitation.
