Description

SYSTEM FOR DISCLOSING DIGITAL CONTENT APPLIED TO MOBILE/CELLULAR TELEPHONY OR SIMILAR
The present invention refers to a system for disclosing digital data contents applied to mobile/cell telephony where the user receives information directed and sectioned through the screen, at the time he accesses said apparatus, distributed by the telephone service operators and stocked in handsets used by subscribers to said telephone services.
The present invention comprises particularly a system for sending and displaying messages associated to a media element, aired at any time when the subscriber interacts with the handset to check any event on the cell phone itself, where the telephone operator company is capable of creating a list of advertisers and/or data, which products and/or services will be offered to the cell phone user, through exposure on the cell phone screen of a media resource, whereby the choice of messages and/or information will follow a business rule according to the user's profile and location at the time the handset is being used, directing relevant messages and/or information according to the user's interest allied to his position at the time they are exhibited.
Still according to the invention, the user will receive benefits in bis plan such as discounts on bills or free minutes and messages according to the number of advertisements shown, or he may win bonuses for events of his choice. The user is also offered the option to save the advertisement, as it may include a discount coupon, bar code or even a link to a web site.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Advertising is recognizably one of the most recommended means to amortize and distribute the operating costs of the modern technological infrastructures of mass communication. Today, wireless communication represents the world's biggest mass communication market, having an infinitely higher penetration and exposure level than television networks. It is no longer considered to be a luxury item, but rather a primary need and one of the main elements of fostering social integration. The dilution of costs of these services depends on the increase in the number of subscribers or sharing the infrastructure by various types of services or by a combination of the two.
Thus, advertising has become an additional source of revenue to lower the costs for users of the infrastructures. In these cases, the costs are no longer covered just by the users and are also shared by those who benefit there from.
With the evolution of technology of the mobile handsets, the market is in search of marketing solutions that make the most of this evolution, benefited by the great visual appeal of advertisements transmitted via pictures, videos and/or songs, that are possible on new handsets.
In the expectation of airing advertisement via cell phone networks, advertising messages are being aired in text form and distributed as "Short Messages"("SMS"). This is currently the only way to distribute advertisements in cellular networks. The use of SMS to distribute advertisements has displeased all users, and has been the cause of strong complaints to operators. The reason for these complaints lies in the subscribers' obligation to "open" their message boxes to read them whenever they receive a signal that new messages are available, besides the fact that it is a totally intrusive operation, and may arrive at an inconvenient moment for the user. The SMS is a highly efficient means of exchanging information of interest to subscribers. It so happens that with the growing quantity of advertising messages via SMS, the subscriber no longer checks the messages he receives since he expects that in most cases the SMS are advertisements. In such cases the advertisements are unacceptable to the subscribers even though they might bring them some benefits.
Therefore, the solution rested in the search for a way of airing advertisements and/or information for the subscribers of mobile/cellular telephone networks that did not alter the way in which the subscribers interact with their handsets, being aired only at moments when the user uses his cell phone to check a cell phone event, such as, for example, when the cell phone rings, at the same time in which subscribers are offered discounts and/or promotions. Some advertising message systems in telephone networks that present features different from the object now claimed are already known in the state of the art.
Document MU 7500850-5 discloses an automatic answering system, which upon intercepting a telephone call, among other options, discloses advertisements of the receiving subscriber, by way of previously recorded voice messages. Document WO 02/01840 refers to a process for advertising in fixed, mobile and cellular telecommunications networks. However, said process is based on advertising via voice messages, wherein the subscriber has to access a specific server to search for an advertisement of interest.
Document JP 2001309443 refers to an advertising process via wireless networks by way of short messages (SMS) and/or e-mails. Said process blatantly diverges from that conceived by the present patent application since it fundamentally addresses text messages that oblige the user to seek the message in his in-box.
Document EP 1253539 refers to a process for distributing advertisements over a private, wireless network, through two subscribers. It also provides for the existence of an intermediary to place the system in operation. Said process departs from that conceived by the present patent application, since it was not conceived for public but private, short-range networks, and besides it was developed for communication between two subscriber terminals.
Document BR MU 8100681-0 illustrates a marketing system applied to mobile and fixed telephony characterized by sending messages with advertising or business content to registered clients. For each message received, the client receives an amount in the form of a discount on his telephone bill. In this system, the client receives any message, at any time, besides not taking into account the profile and the location of the user.
Document BR PI 0503877-4 describes a system for airing digital content associated to a media element on the screen of a wireless communication terminal device during the course of a telephone call distributed by the wireless telephone service operators and stored in the terminal devices used by the subscribers of the wireless telephone services. This process is restricted to receiving advertisements only during the course of a telephone call, and does not offer the user any promotions or bonuses.
OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
The objective of the invention is to provide for wireless telephone service operators to air message-advertisements and/or information via their subscriber networks, in a customized fashion, in order to boost the profitability of their operations and at the same time reduce costs for their subscribers. hi this sense, the advertisement and/or subscriber-targeted information is based on the user profile, which is duly catalogued in a database, and on his location at the time of using the handset. The purpose of these features is to provide improved interactivity and receptivity to the system user.
The major distinguishing factor in relation to the current state of the art is precisely the fact that the advertising messages and/or information are placed on show on the subscriber's display or terminal screen in a personalized fashion, targeted exclusively in accordance with his profile and his location when using the cell phone, also offering the subscriber promotions, discounts and/or bonuses, without altering the way in which the user "relates" to his handset, besides allowing the user to receive said messages and/or information only when verifying an event on the cell phone itself.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURE Figure 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of the system of the present invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION As illustrated in the appended figure, the system for disclosing digital contents applied to mobile/cellular telephony or similar is used at any time when the user interacts with the handset, that is, when he receives or makes a call, hangs up after making or receiving a call, sends or receives an SMS or MMS message or when the terminal enters idle mode, that is, without any action for more than one period configured by the user, and the advertisement and/or information is shown on the handset display, targeted and segmented to the subscriber according to his profile, previously registered on a database, and his location when using said handset.
Accordingly, when the subscriber uses the handset, the system will already have identified his profile and his location, after which it will direct an advertisement and/or information that will be saved in a request queue according to the stipulated rules. This movement will be saved in the subscriber's records so that the message and/or information is not repeated, and also to improve the profile thereof on an on-going basis, as well as to have a database on this subscriber's results /visualizations.
Based on the results/visualizations deriving from the use of the handset, a report will be generated so that the subscriber is offered promotions, discounts and/or bonuses.
None of the functional feataures of the handset will be altered by the system now claimed, since the advertising messages and/or information will occur at any of the moments preceding the receipt of a call or SMS or MMS message and/or immediately after finalizing the call and/or sending the MSM or MMS message and/or even when the terminal enters idle mode.
The system is initiated at a moment 1 when the subscriber's terminal (1) is used, that is, when he receives or makes a call, hangs up after making or receiving a call, sending or receiving an SMS or MMS message and/or when the terminal enters idle mode, that is, without any action for more than period configured by the user. At one of these moments, hereafter referred to as moment 1, said terminal (1) requests an advertisement (2A), whereupon an interface occurs with the "batch/request advertisement process" (3A). When this occurs, the terminal becomes unoccupied and the batch process continues, seeking in the request queue (4A) an advertising message and/or information that is based on the business rule (5A), which verifies the subscriber's profile/location (6A) informed by the handset in the communication, returning said business rule (5A) and then stores the advertisement chosen in the movement event (7A), initiating a second moment.
At moment 2, the terminal (1) will search the advertisement via the "receive advertisement" (2B) process, which in turn will search for the previously stored advertisement in the movement event (3B), and return it to said terminal (1) and then it will be shown on the handset screen at one of the moments described above, in other words, when he receives or makes a call, hangs up after making or receiving a call, sending or receiving an SMS or MMS message and/or when the terminal enters idle mode, that is, without any action for more than one period established by the user. Whenever the terminal (1) makes a "request advertisement" (2A) or
"receive advertisement" (2B) communication, he confirms the communication on the event, records the result (2C) which in turn sends to the queue of results (3C) the advertisements that were displayed, with display details, which then verifies on the "business rules" (4C) event, and then stores the results (5C) to generate the reports (6C). Said report (6C) contains the number of visualizations and/or information accessed by the subscriber, in order to ensure that he may gain benefits in his plan with discounts on his bill or, and/or promotions, such as free minutes or messages.
It is important to point out that after making a call and/or sending an SMS or MMS message, a new advertisement is shown on the handset screen in accordance with the rules already referred to above.
This process is reinitiated whenever the subscriber interacts with the handset, and whenever this happens a new message and/or information will be shown on the handset screen.
The selection of the subscriber-targeted advertising messages and/or information will be defined in detail in accordance with the profile of said subscriber, and should also obey the criteria of his location, when he interacts with the handset, giving a personalized touch to the system.
Persons skilled in the art will easily understand that changes may be incorporated to the invention without exceeding the scope of the concepts laid down herein. Such changes should be considered as included within the scope of the invention. Consequently, particular embodiments described in detail previously are only illustrative. They do not limit the scope of the invention, which includes the fullest extension of the claims appended hereto and all and any equivalents thereof.
