Abstract

Drug delivery through the skin of a patient has become a standard way for the administration of drugs, which cannot be formulated in the form of pills for oral application. However, a hypodermic needle applied to a skin always damages the skin bearing a risk for an infection. Therefore usage of a high-speed jet pump (102) for transdermal, needle-less drug delivery is suggested which is wearable by a patient for long-term treatment. In order to enable an easy refilling of the system even for the medical laymen it is suggested to arrange the system such that the reservoir (82) forms a cartridge (80) which might easily be exchanged while the pump system might remain fixed to a patient.
