Abstract

A bone cement mixing and delivery system (100) is provided in which separate components of bone cement are mixed together in a mixer to form a bone cement mixture. The mixer includes a mixing paddle (126) and a mixing shaft (120) connected to the mixing paddle. A motor (150) operatively engages the mixing shaft to rotate the mixing shaft and the mixing paddle to mix the components in a mixing chamber (138). The motor also operatively engages a transfer mechanism (134). After a predetermined mixing period has elapsed, the motor automatically actuates the transfer mechanism to transfer the mixture to a delivery device (104). The mixture is then delivered to a target site, such as a vertebral body of a patient or other anatomical site.
