Abstract

The method of manufacturing a picture (P) of a scene (99) using an image taking apparatus (1) comprising an image taking element (60) and an image-forming optical system (20) comprising at least one lens (21) comprises the steps of a) obtaining a set of image components (Ri), wherein said set of image components (Ri) comprises information on said scene (99) in full; b) carrying out a pre-defined variation of at least one imaging parameter during step a); wherein step a) comprises the steps of a1) obtaining the image components (Ri) of said set one after the other; and a2) capturing a substantially different fraction of said scene (99) in each of said image components (Ri); wherein step b) comprises the step of b1) carrying out a relative movement of said at least one lens (21) with respect to said image taking element (60) during step a), wherein said at least one imaging parameter is - for each of said image components (Ri) - substantially constant during obtaining the respective image component (Ri). Said at least one imaging parameter can be a focus setting, so that the method allows to obtain images of pre- selectable distributions of sharpness and blur.
